From memory we were obligated to buy after securing promotion, the question is will the transfer embargo cause any issues as that will be in place until 1st July when the clubs registration switches to EPL from EFL I believe, so not sure how that will play out if the contract with Lisbon states we need to buy before that date

There's an article in The Guardian today ("A Premier League return is the only certainty in Leicester’s cloudy future") which puts questionmarks behind an immediate lift of the transfer embargo and the Fatawu transfer:
So, will the Premier League release the transfer embargo the English Football League imposed on the club for breaching profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) in March? If not, what happens to Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi and Jannik Vestergaard, among the regulars out of contract at the end of June? Will Leicester be powerless to rubber-stamp the £14.5m deal they agreed with Sporting to sign Fatawu in the event of promotion? “In this moment, it is complicated,” Maresca said on Tuesday. Under the embargo, Leicester cannot re-sign current players or register new ones without EFL approval. Leicester will formally become a Premier League club again at the annual general meeting in Harrogate at the end of June. The league may well have a few questions for them.
I cannot comment either way but that's what the article says. The author is Ben Fisher.

He's probably just another lazy pissed hack amongst the crowd of 'em currently milking the 'LCFC are the bad guys' theme. There might be a few outliers like John Percy, but most of the shite you'll read won't be worth reading.

If the 'Option' to buy is actually a commitment then one would expect that we would have to pay a financial penalty if we don't complete the purchase. If any embargo worsens out losses (we pay out but don't get the player) me thinks that the 'Football Authorities' will struggle to justify that

If we get Fatawu really looking forward to see how our wingers do next season. As they have been a massive part of why we have got promoted.
