It really was all our fault

It will come as no surprise to anybody to learn The Times is reporting this morning that plans for the ESL began in 2017 - the year after we won the league. It says it the idea came about because the ‘big clubs’ were concerned about other clubs threatening their Champions League places and hence incomes. It even has a picture of a dinner at a New York restaurant in 2017 where it says the plans were being discussed.

All because of us.

I’m absolutely certain they are all in cahoots with each other. When we won the league they all made a pact that this would never happen again. The result is some record Premier League points scored by Man City and by Liverpool in recent seasons.

The following season we made them all look stupid again by focusing on the Champions League and by progressing to the quarter finals. Since then these BCC’s have taken European competition far more seriously.

What they haven’t bargained for is that we will not go away. We will also not be part of their little clique.

It would not surprise me one bit if it ever came out that our owners received a letter or a phone call offering money for us to set our sights lower and aim to finish in 7th or 8th. Nothing now would surprise me about the owners of these 6 clubs and how low they would stoop to get the success and money they all need to remain a top club.
