Anyone starting it up would need more info from you. Setting up a board is a pain but not that difficult, but they need a list of all of your members and non-members.

What are you going to be using "bentleysroof.co.uk" for? The name is quite specific.

You can get bentleysroof domains easily. I'm pretty sure that GoDaddy has hundreds of them available (first year as cheap as 0.01 euros)
 
If I was setting the website up I would be looking at the total annual costs of running the site.
Maybe the costs will put us off.
Any advertising revenue would be a bonus (not to be relied on in Year 1)
Let's say we had a 100 members @ £12 pa = £1200 (Simple spreadsheet to control members)
IF members join at a later date, charge them a pro rata rate for the year.
All memberships would be renewed at the same time.
Any advertising could be banked and decisions made later.
No doubt I have simplified the process but I would be willing assist whoever wants to be "The Chief in Charge"

Quite easy to do using Wordpress, then manage subscriptions and payments through some of the millions of plugins available.

The best thing about this board is the banter and the abuse given and received. No one gets hurt (physically at least😂) and it’s the only real vehicle for sharing info about the club and letting off steam about it. But we’re all fans (I think) of LCFC and I’d really miss it if it closed for good. I don’t agree at all that it’s lost its way and like I said previously, I can’t stomach the idea of switching to FT. We are the alternative to it!
 
Sincerely hope that we fund a way of continuing the board in some shape or form.
When we were on Rivals was this just a charge/ads with none of the admin hassle?

I think you are overestimating this site. It's a pimple on an ogre's bum. That's what makes it special. I don't believe there is enough footfall or enough regular users to generate income. FT is the ogre's bum , that can be a profit maker. Bentley's is for special cases and is a small family all of it's own. As I said before anyone taking this over NEEDS to know how many regular visits and total page views there are. Numbers can be misleading from the outside where many accounts are dead or ghosts and page views are unknown. I'd say that we are so few that the board could be run off a free board, where you can choose to pay to remove ads and increase options etc. Of course, someone may already be with a server where they have unlimited storage and would be happy to "donate" it or you can go down a more private (expensive route).

The board does have a loyal following, many of whom are happy to pay subs to help out - most football forums don't charge. I believe those subs could be sufficient in the right circumstances BUT whoever takes over needs to understand that they are liable for whatever charges arise.

Whoever takes it on should do so for reasons of passion and see it as a hobby. Hobbies bring joy but also bring expense.

I agree with you Loz, This is the only board where we can say and do what we do. Many of you would be banned within days of going to the ogre (I'm permo-banned so that's not an option, I'm also banned from Talking balls which I like as a forum). Those that are too polite and sweet to get banned wouldn't like FT so much as you'd be lost, it's a behemoth of hate and bile with a few glimmers of shining wonder. This board is a home, a family, where you get to know each and every one (or in some cases 2,3,4) of us.

I think we will but Mac needs to give whoever is in contact with him all the info they need to choose the correct forum type for the new bentleys. Prices and revenue are all based on GB.

I wasn't overestimating the site.
I was merely throwing some numbers around as i do not have a clue what the running costs are or how many paid members we have.
