The Managers - Brian Little

I think he was.
Didn't Martin George express his regret afterwards for throwing him under the bus before that game?
He was just the sort of no-nonsense pragmatist that I'd have preferred to TCM this summer. He did a really important job for us in those three or so years, and brought me some amazing memories. (y)
Little doesnt get credit for how important a figure he was in our history.

Surely that was actually down to a very dodgy penalty? And Elleray being the ref.
I suspect that was tongue in cheek...
(Poole or Skippy would be higher up my undeserved blame list, but you've nailed the culprits – along with White.)
But who will ever forget the comeback, and Thommo's goal remains in my top three City moments of all time.
I was sent home from work the following day as I was still of no use to no-man... 😂

Not at all.
Three nil down and nothing to play for he let the shackles off.
BANG
BANG
BANG
Three Three.
Suddenly he's scrambling for his notebook and makes everyone get back into position.
Then the inevitable, Hoddle suddenly isn't getting chased down so can dictate from midfield. 30 yard passes here and there, 70? Yard passes into the box.
Then the penalty curse struck again.

Although I don't think I have ever re-watched that particular match so maybe it's just what I remember from the time.

When you consider where we were when he arrived (and the many years before it) compared to when he left (and the many years afterwards), it was one of the most transformational periods in our history. However, no manager would be given that time these days (current situation is case in point). He is a gentleman and when you listen to this episode you can understand why he left - he's villa through and through - and did really well there too. I have only good memories of those times and that equaliser at Wembley created a noise I don't think I've heard since

It's his fault we lost to Swindon.

Exactley that, White got the Penalty when Poole got the ball, White tumbled over, Penalty given by Elleray. He was the referee who disallowed the goal for Chesterfield v Middlesborough that had crossed the line in a FA Cup semi final about 2 or 3 years later. Another old bloke who lives in our Village is a Swindon fan and was at that PO final, I was too, he met White at a Swindon reunion event and claims White winked at him when he asked was it a penalty against Leicester? On Brian Little, he played a very important part of our history, on a small budget he built teams that got to the play off final in 92, 93, 94, beating the sheep 2-1 in 94, the first win at Wembley for LCFC in 7 attempts. His teams played with real fight and were entertaining, he was one of our best managers, it was a great time to be a fan.

Not quite straight away. Oldfield had a chance to 4-3 up not long after equalising. Or at least that is what I remeber but that was such a crazy 20 minutes where the emotions were all over the place. Remains one of my all time favourite games despite the result.

Great tackle by Swindon defender Shaun Taylor on David Oldfield stopped a certain goal for us when it was 3-3. My abiding memory of that day too!
