Brexit implementation

I have a UK passport. i have UK financial interests.
Are you saying I shouldn't be allowed to voice my opinion?
what about SardiniaFox?
This is why arguing with certain Brexiters is painful, when you've run out of constructive arguments you resort to this.

the 4 stages of brexiters views:

it's going to be great.
well maybe not great, but it's necessary, give it time.
ok, i knew it was going to be bad but it's what i voted for.
well it's not what i voted for, and the EU is now being nasty and vindictive.

The circle jerk-off of diminishing returns because they can't accept they were wrong.
Thanks for telling my views. Your insight is compelling

Jesus. 2017! Is that it? You do understand investment management and how it works and best advice rules I guess? The Investors he is advising? Portfolio diversification? The economic situation at the time and the opportunities ?

How you getting on with JRM - try LBC
Doesn't make it false.

I used to work for a bank. Did you?

Yes HSBC for 19 years. 3 years with GE Capital plus 10 years as an IFA. Good enough?

Anyway as you have deflected I guess that you have struggled to come up with facts or a counter argument

Good for you. Trade accounting all asset classes for JPM for me.

Still denying what Rees-Mogg and Redwood said and did?

The Fishing debacle sums up the current state of Brexit thinking .
Brexiters banged on about the “principle” of the fishing industry . Anyone who knew anything at all about it warned that it would be bad for the liveliehoods of fishermen - Project Fear they screamed .
Now - We - within the EU largely drew up the rules about the export of shellfish ( in 2012I believe)
As a side note Farage was on that fisheries committee but never bothered to turn up - possibly the reason he hadn’t a clue what he was talking about when pushing the benefits of Brexit to British Fisheries .
Now sadly many fishing communities face ruin because , as a third country they cannot sell to the EU . We voted to be a third country and now Brexiters ( Brexit means Brexit) are blaming the EU for following the rules we agreed as members and accepted in a deal painfully negotiated over 4 years .
The restrictions , red tape and extra costs faced by hundreds of small businesses are no surprise to anyone who listened to the business leaders , while the ERG Hard Brexiters encouraged us to leave the SM and CU knowing this would be the outcome . To hear them blaming the EU for their recklessness is sickening hypocrisy.
It’s what we voted for - Fine - We are where we are but please don’t whinge about exactly the consequences we accepted as a 3rd country .
Don’t get me started on Ireland . That is going to become the biggest headache of all .

The shellfish issue, like several others will be sorted in due course. Its a case of settling in to a new relationship.

Even that rabid epicentre of Remaining Enthusiasm called Private Eye couldn't resist pointing out recently the irony around the EU refusing to accept shellfish caught in Britain's polluted waters, whilst being perfectly happy with catching it's own enormously greater volume of shellfish in the very same polluted waters...
Yes filbo, but that dirty shellfish is cleansed and processed in the EU. See the problem?

Ineos?Still headquartered in the UK. Recently purchased a factory in the EU to go with the many plants they have across the World.

Dyson moved its Corporate HQ to Malaysia but the engineering jobs are here. The screwdriver jobs are all in Malaysia and have been for a while
Vote of confidence isn't it. Brexit happens and Dyson promptly moves the HQ, and all those jobs, abroad. Spin it how you want.

And I wasn't clear...I was referring to ineos automotive and the grenadier. All set to build it in Wales....then decided to build it in France instead. Something about less trade barriers and better access to suppliers.

If that is what brexit supporters think of doing business in the UK in the post-brexit landscape then it speaks volumes. Louder than any argument we'll have.

In my experience of reading PE over the years, they skewer whoever is in govt and especially bureaucracy, so there was no need for the dig at the beginning to give your point more impact.
When did you become the teacher on here, marking people's posts??
(FYI, read back through the past three or four years' worth of the Eye for a wide and accurate view of their coverage, and many readers' opinions of it.)

Of course. It's impossible to process UK shellfish, which must be what the Eye was pointing out. I'm very very relieved that I've never ever bought shellfish off the south coast beaches.

Didn't Dyson move cleaners and washing machines to Malasia in 2002?
Isn't the vast majority of production now in Singapore? Where they will also build the companies new electric car.
Only 37% of the workforce are based in the UK.
Rowan said moving to Singapore was part of “the evolution” of the company. When asked whether Dyson could still be referred to as one of Britain’s best success stories, he said the firm should now be referred to as a “global technology company”.
Rowan was the CEO of Dyson until lasy year.

Electric car plans scrapped.
Singapore penthouse back on the market.
Probably coming home to concentrate on the CAP replacement, as he's one of the countries biggest farmland owners.
Anything to distract him developing more over-engineered over-complicated over-priced consumer products... ;)

Completely missing the point. EU rules mean shellfish bought from Class B waters have to be cleaned, which is done in the EU. If you want to eat your cockles that haven't been cleaned that's up to you, but I don't think you'll eat enough to sustain the industry.

The ERG....
Rejected a deal which didn’t put a border in the Irish Sea
Voted for one that did
Won an election on it
Now disown it
These people are ignorant traitorous charlatans who have irreparably damaged our country. They should be held ignored and one day I hope they are held to account .

Turn the record over or seek professional help.

If it ain't the ERG its Farage or some other target.

Why ? These swines are the major reason my country is heading for disaster . Like millions of others- we won’t forgive or forget these treacherous bastards until they are properly held to account .

You are absolutely correct.

The sooner we get rid of all the remainers in government or public office and forge a new identity in the world the better.

Nothing like trying to reunite the country.

Rejoiners. It’s rejoiners . We will inevitably rejoin the 21st century before long

Morning SF. Just a gentle dig at the absurdities of some posters.

The reality is of course much sadder. Our country has become polarised into a sectarian mess, decided on the basis of race, wealth, class, gender and God knows what else.

The question I ask myself is whether the collapse of representative and accountable government in the western 'democracies' is simply the natural end of an era or the deliberate machinations of globalists, marxists, or the CCP. Pick your preferred option.

There are quite a few on here in your "gang".

I also think the lockdown should be ended, But that there should be some restrictions for the vulnerable (when cases are on the rise) and a big increase in intensive care provision.

The criteria for expulsion from national life and just life in general, is that you voted for or sympathised with "Remain".

You must now relinquish your right to vote (but keep paying tax) and have no right to comment on anything.

This will definitely end polarisation in society.

I have a gang? Wow, who knew?

I largely agree with the first point though I feel those at risk are mostly going to be contained anyway. Hospital intensive care is expensive, I would try something radical like treating people in the early stages, possibly reducing the numbers needing hospitalisation or the ICU.

The other points are of course parody, not bad actually...🤫

You've convinced yourself that they are remainers, when in reality they are just power & money-hungry.

That's the reason on countless occasions, Johnson has written two versions of an article & then gauges public opinion to see which benefits him the most.

What this sorry lot will gain is all that matters to them - so they are cushioned from any of the side effects of their actions & decisions, which the rest of us will have to put up with.
