Cummings

No. You actually gave him a vote.

You could have abstained...
Or voted for a party other than Labour or Conservative which in most of England at least which amounts to the same thing, but at least it means you are saying something rather than nothing.

I have told you this before, I decided it was important to use my vote rather than shrug my shoulders and abrogate my responsibility. I voted for a proper Brexit that Johnson promised to get done as opposed to a Corbyn government the refused to say what it's policy was.

At the time it was the only sane choice, in my constituency there was no alternative. I would have voted UKIP or similar had they been on the ballot paper.

That Johnson lied so spectacularly was not my fault.

Deflecting on how poor they perceived the alternatives were in order to excuse that they "had" to vote Tory is just copying the deflecting tactics that the Tories have mastered over the last few years.

When in doubt or if you are to blame, blame someone else.

Weak. I don't ever recall him saying to any detail what his approach was going to be. Too many hoodwinked by Johnson repeating the same 3-word slogan over & over.
Morning Mm. Trust you are well.

You are quite right, it was pretty weak.

But it was stronger than the 'non policy' of the Labour Party, that the they lost seats to to such a 'weak' argument tells you everything you need to know about them.

Having decided that it was too important not to vote, I made the only sane choice.

It was plain to see to even a schoolchild, that Johnson and his ilk were and are serial liars and charlatans.

That a slogan convinced you tells us everything about you.

No detail.

No explanation.

A slogan.

95% of the country are moderate politically . Labour \ Tory used to be quite broad in their range of opinions, and political decisions were taken with regard to that . It didn’t make too much difference who was in power and we shuffled along with each other quite amicably .

Sadly the political parties after 2016 had shifted to the extreme wings . Hence we are left with a very narrow cabal of the Tory right making decisions which are basically only going to be good for a small minority of the U.K. . Sadly the likes of AFC claims anyone left of Thatcher are some sort of communist whereas in fact most people are simply moderate .
Decision making is being made by a few generally incompetent or ideologically driven individuals in the inner circle . Hence the constant mistakes and missteps leading us on the road to God knows where.

95% of the country are voiceless .

As opposed to Corbyn who had no policy at all. I am a long way from being a schoolchild, but the further this debate progresses the more sure I am that I voted the right way. Anything that winds up lefties this much has to be right...

All true Mm, well to a degree. And still the Labour Party failed to put up any kind of policy alternative. In fact they point blank refused to say what their policy was. Couldn't even come up with a slogan, let alone 'detail' or 'explanation'.

Hypothetically speaking, had Corbyn promised to leave on WTO terms, had a bit of policy to make that work, I probably would have voted for him. On the principle that we could, in time, fix the damage he would invariably cause to the country, whereas getting out of the EU was pretty much a one off.

I'm not a leftie. Also it doesn't wind me up. It makes me laugh...

It was a general observation. Not particularly aimed at your good self.

I do not normally do party politics, never really engaged me until Brexit.

Though living in England I still had property and business in Spain and was, generally speaking pro EU, it was the sanctimonios shits on the remain side slagging off huge swathes of the Britsh public that really changed my mind.

Working on the principle that if these were the people wanting us to stay in, then we really should get out. I was quite determined come referendum day.

Screw the country to own the libs (y)

The sanctimonious shit that turned out to be true?

This revenge lark & doing things as a wind-up hasn't really worked out best for everyone has it?!

It was about attitudes Mm, I'm an ordinary bloke, a live and let live kind of person, I don't abuse others or call them names, having others do it to me does tend to put my back up.

I enjoy a bit of banter and the occasional wind up but, when being serious I prefer rational debate.

That is unbelievable...

So the Remainers touched a raw nerve in you and you abandoned all sense, from a pro-EU standpoint?

You do realise that the people behind Brexit, make a career out of taking the piss out of the UK public.

Owning the libs, but with slighter more reach. Talking about Cummings interview.

Twitter is full of Brexiters whose only defence left of the shitshow now befalling our country is it “upsets Remainers”“ It’s frightening .

Remainers couldn't even agree with each other. There's loads of Remainers that I fucking hate.

It was hardly a united coalition.

I feel that is rather a loose interpretation of what I said.

I try to be open and honest about things when I post (seriously) on here, and you know what, sometimes life is complex, things change and views about those things change.

I consider myself flexible and open minded, I am not constrained by political dogma. During the noughties we enjoyed our time in Spain, all was new, fun etc. As time went on some of these perceptions changed, but overall, I remained fairly positive about the EU in general.

It was the 'enactment' of the Lisbon treaty that started to make me think, little or no debate in the UK parliament, consultation with the people that was promised but never happened, the second votes forced on the Dutch and the Irish, and the implications of that treaty on sovereignty, which I hold quite dear. All of these things (and a fair few others) troubled me.

Then the rather nasty campaign I mentioned earlier, rather swayed me the other way. Maybe I was naive, I would certainly own up to that with respect to party political infighting, but then, a duly elected British prime minister told me quite unequivocally that a vote for leave 'would mean leave the Single Market, the Customs Union and all other institutions of the EU', I thought Yes that will do me.

Cummings admitted lying in his press conference about his Northumberland trip which was very thought out so why should we now believe a word he’s saying?
I agree at first sight he’s not credible and has an axe to grind ... but he then produces the evidence in emails, text messages and WhatsApp threads. None of which are specifically rejected or denied by Johnson.

Our country and its government has now sunk so low we are reduced to trying to determine which proven liar might actually be telling the truth
