Out on the town.

Wow, that escalated quickly.

Weather has been a pit patchy all day but it has turned into a very pleasant evening.

So we walked across to the Quay, less than 10 minutes from us, plenty of people about, most though quite not all without masks, two things of note.

Firstly one of our regular pubs is closed due to Track and Trace. Reopens next week, according to the signs, everyone is fine, no symptoms but following the regulations.

Many of the restaurants are very busy, no signs of masks anywhere, people entering and exiting without issue. A quick beer, ordered inside at the bar, sat outside to drink, then ambled home as Mrs AFC is cooking.

Take it as you will.

Here it is simple. Masks are required indoors unless you are eating or drinking, which you don't do in supermarkets.

Outdoors they are not required but people politely wear them in busy places like markets.

As for being out on the town, we visit the bar twice a day for midmorning coffee and a pre lunch drink.

Life goes on.
Get a job you lazy douche.

Just been over the road to our local for a nice meal with Mrs CBC as the kids all out. Walked in, no-one in masks. Pleasant weather, found a nice table in the corner... Zzzzzz

It is not exactly a revelation but I am just passing on my experiences of life getting something like back to normal.

It may be boring, but it is what is happening. We are planning a meal out at the weekend and a band on Friday night, as I said, just relating my experiences. Take from it what you will.

While the accounts of evening outings are a little ... humdrum, the escalation is far more boring.

Right now humdrum would be good. Being able to get back to normal would be a plus. We still think there is still a slightly odd feel to going around doing things that a year or so would be totally normal, it is odd and a bit difficult to describe.

We are off to a travel agent later to see if we can squeeze in a bit of Mediterranean sunshine before the shit hits the fan in the autumn. We fully expect our 'usual' early winter holiday to be a casualty of an autumn lockdown so best to try and do something now while we have a window of opportunity.

Really just a 'reccy' to find out which particular hoops we will be required to jump through and get an idea of the extra costs involved with the testing and such, much of the information online is unclear or incomplete. Mrs AFC is really keen, so anything short of a full NBC suit and we shall be going.

I’m in constant touch with forums in Majorca regarding the measures that you need to take. Right now the reason I won’t go over is because they keep moving goalposts. My daughter and family had paid for flights for early august and they are not going.
I suspected that they would try and trap us when it was announced, so held fire myself and sure enough it went from green to amber after a week or so, meaning the poor fuckers who took a chance had 10 days in home on their return. It’s a game, it’s a trap whatever you want to call it.

Agreed bnet, there is some chatter about shifting from Amber to Amber+, an announcement is expected in the next few days. I know that they are doing this on purpose to fuck things up for ordinary people but I think this next month or so is likely to be the best chance of getting away for a while.

We are prepared to manage the 10 days isolation, but if you have any information as to how things actually are on the island, that would be a great help. Planning on keeping it quite simple and 'touristy', Palma mostly, Sòller as a side trip.

But are you prepared to take the steps necessary to get there? Like being vaccinated and wearing a mask when required?

Interesting how they will deal with the football regulations coming soon . Will bnet secretly get vaccinated or risk ‘poisoning’ by shoving a swab up his hooter ?

Morning SF. That is very much what we are going to find out.

Right now our understanding is this, a positive PCR test 48-72 hours before travel is all that is required. Masks are required at the airport and on the aircraft, I plan to use a protective visor if that is permissible, otherwise I shall be in trouble, I can not, because of my arrhythmia, wear a facemask for any length of time.

A lateral flow test before returning and insurance for an 'extended' (if necessary) stay is tedious but possible as are the tests and isolation when we return. It is the mechanics and costs of this that we need to nail down, it appears that a 'kit' covering all the testing is available at £90 per person, but some of the details still need clarification.

There is no requirement to be vaccinated, unless you want to skip the isolation on return.

Thank you for the comprehensive answer.

There may be a requirement to be vaccinated where you are going though. Assuming you don't want to spend the entire holiday in quarantine.

on Facebook there a page set up by a bar owner called Calvia Noticeboard, l know quite a few who are on that, and you get info everyday. We normally go over every 3 to 4 weeks for 4 or 5 days in the summer, not been since last September, l might take a chance if things look promising. The really affluent resorts as people travel by boats or chartered flights. Been hearing if you travel in private jets you have no hassle at all, which is understandable as they look after their own. These rules don't apply to them ! Miss the place to be fair but there is no way that l will compromise my family with this evil shit they are trying to put in us, just for a matter of time. I'm confident, and l don't think you are of the same opinion, that this is coming to a head and will blow in the next couple of months. I also have potential problems over there that l need to keep on top of as the Spanish government are pure evil when playing the system against foreign owners.

At this time we are looking at the Balearic or Greek islands as that is not the case in either destination.

bnet, thanks for that, I do not do Facebook but Mrs AFC does so I will pass it to her, I'm sure she will be interested.

As for the Spanish government and legal setup, they are hateful when dealing with foreigners, we still have a fair lump of cash tied up in property in Andalusia that is totally frozen and controlled by the Junta. We have effectively written it off, there has been no movement in 8 years.

l saved myself from a problem at the end of last year just in time. l could see the plan, and l guess hundreds got caught by it, it was with the community charges and I'd previously heard about how they do it in normal times, luckily l spotted it !

The Balearics have an advantage as you can drive back, l know of people who have driven to Spain and back with no issue at all.

I'll take that as a no then.
l think typing the word "NO".

should give you a clue that l mean "NO".

Is there another word that you might understand a bit easier ? FFS

Perhaps you need to think about wearing a hat to keep the sun of your head, it could help with your lack of cognitive skills.

Says thicko of the millennium.

As I have posted on another thread ...

Hilarious. Enjoy not going anywhere for a while. Including Wembley.
