Are we all looking forward to the new season ?

Brauny

The optimistic pessimist
Personally never felt more disconnected.

I don't recognise the thing I have loved since my dad took me to my first game in 1975.( Liverpool)

It was magical, nothing got my juices flowing more than following my heroes.
Even in bad times, I never wavered.
Travelling to follow some very average Leicester teams to all parts of the country was never a burden, it seemed an unbreakable love affair.
All week at work I was excited for the next adventure, a new ground, a different experience.
F.A.Cup ties at Cold Blow Lane, freezing my nuts off at Stoke, soaked at Boundary Park. Helping my driver do a milk round so we could get to a lunchtime k.o at Anfield ( won 2-1 )
It was worth it all to follow the boys.
It was in the blood.
Brilliant times and memories to last forever

Now though the club is on a unprecedented downer or is it my misconception and it's just an age thing?
Does the magic fade because of age ?

For me my club has disappeared, unrecognisable, it's been so poorly run for such a long time i am losing my mojo.
I don't even really care about what's coming up, who the manager might be, the decline, the resurrection.

The spark as disappeared.

I'm stuck in a different era that I loved even when it was shite, but currently I'm flatlining.

Ditto to all that . Well written 👍

Yes and no, it is not unprecedented in my opinion. "No" because in my time (same timeline, first game 1975) we have been very, very shit both on and off the pitch at the same time before (see 1985-1991... with a brief bit of on-pitch optimism first half of David Pleat's tenure in the middle). But also "yes" because the fall from the heights reached were greater and the football landscape has changed; it is much more business rather than sport oriented and the imperative to be in the top division is greater. I have felt disconnected from the club as an organisation most of my life though, they've just found new ways to hammer home that distance in the last couple of years.
just an age thing?

This is part of it too and if anybody says otherwise they are either a) lying to themselves or b) were never into it when younger in the way you described (and which I identify with)... which pretty much describes most of the people I see at the Stadium these days.

Oh, sorry, and to answer the question that kicked this off... no, I am not. Nothing to do with the football. All to do with the ticketing (though a dishonourable mention for EMR & their counterparts who have made travelling to away games a chore rather than a pleasure on an ever increasing basis).

My 1st game was in September 1969 after we had been relegated and lost The FA Cup Final.
As other posters have said on numerous occasions we have had many ups and downs.
I renewed my ST for this season but time is catching up with me as I am 70 in August.
I know I will miss 6 games due to holidays so it's a max of 17 home games.
I think the tank is running on empty.

Excitement is now zero l'm know l don't go down to support anymore but now
It's disillusionment, you can't feel that thought you always carried at the start of any Season " l wonder how we will get on"..
Replaced now by "how will we manage"

Losing faith as the weeks go by before the season KO. Surely the club cannot get any lower can it? Having that monstrosity of a football pitch displayed all over the worlds media when holding an international football game (what ever the gender) beggars belief.

Of course, always get that mixture of nerves and excitement this time of year. As soon as that stops then I know it's time to knock it on the head.

My loyalty is to the club as an institution which is well served, and often not well served, by those running it.
At the moment the latter is the case but they will pass on and the club will survive and see better days.
I kook forward to any new season.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm by nature quite optimistic but also feel that we have reached the bottom and therefore bouncing point. Bring on the points deduction, the clear-out and the recruitment and it might not be as bad as it feels right now. We're in the pit of close-season when nothing seems to happen and we're in a much better position financially than most of the teams in the Championship.

Totally agree but for different reasons. I have lost my faith, and Football has lost its soul. I lost my faith and passion for England due to our negative style of play and it just got worse over the last ten years. But still had city; but the last 5 or six years have taken its toll. the style of play, the corporateness and the sterile matchday experience. Football as we know it will soon be confined to History if the BCC get their way.

Can you let me have a bag of that stuff you're using please

The owners and higher management (Rudkin I mean) are not inspiring confidence at the moment but bad as it is they dont compare to the Needham era when they wouldnt give Gordon Banks a £3 per week rise after he won the world cup. When they bought all the houses on the pop side to improve the ground then sold them all to a housing association. When as soon as a player looked half decent he was sold (Linekar Newell etc) In those dark days the club was used to make Needham richer and Im sure that Top isnt getting more wealthy on Filbert Way.

Looking forward to it? Nah scared to death really!

First Season i've not lived in Leicester and thought i might miss it when the games start.......but not at all.....still follow them and will probably go to the Boro away game, but that will be about that this season.

I have read all the posts on this and have similar thoughts to a lot of what has been written.
We have all had some great times/crap times watching/following City over many many years which are well and truly stored in the memory bank. The game has moved onto a level that we would never have envisaged back in the 60's/70's and 80's.
The enthusiasm levels have dropped over the years but I am looking forward to watching Championship football this coming season for the simple fact we will be competing on a reasonably (depending on any points deduction) level playing field in a League where no game is forgone conclusion before it even kicks off and there are some decent away days to be had.
It is also going to be a different experience watching home games this season as our Season Tickets in SK1 have gone over to safe standing 😂
Bring it on!!

I have the same feeling, am 68 now and been going since 1967, never felt like this, usually can’t wait for the fixtures coming out, not that bothered this time, maybe I’m just too old and lost the passion 🤔

FFS Charlton and Oxford 12.30 KOs away!

Im considering this as Sky's revenge as I ditched my subscription last week. Got to go the the games or the pub now each week.

I've always looked forward to the start of the season but for the first time in sixty years I just couldn't give a shit, not helped by the inactivity on and off the pitch.
