As a nation, when did we stop caring about the truth?

Or has it always been the case.
Regardless of what you think about Boris, it must have started long before his reign.
No one gives a fuck any more about truth as long as what’s being said fits their left or right wing leaning.
Maybe we deserve the society we’ve created.

Started with a vengeance for the Brexit Referendum in 2016 - the possibility of gaining power was enough by a Leave campaign to start telling porkies at an industrial level.

With messaging wrapped in emotive terms, people fell for them, as they saw a return to a sepia-tinged world (which most had never lived through, & anyone that had, would never want to return to) where Britannia ruled the waves, won wars single-handedly (because wars are never far away as a reference point) & everyone else would jolly well do whatever was enforced on them.

Fast-forward to December 2019 & an election with Billy Bunter at the helm - a disorganised dollop of hair & flab, who strangely, some people aligned with because they saw him as some sort of rebel character & one they perhaps felt they shared lots of characteristics with, who simply by the use of Latin, clenched fists, three-word slogans & that strange bobbing-up & down motion he does when he gets remotely over-excited about anything, would lead us to the promised land.

The worst man at the worst possible time - was always a bullshitter.

Weapons of mass destruction anyone?
Whilst I’m not disagreeing with what you’ve posted I think it goes much much deeper than that. It’s like it’s ok to just plain lie or ignore the truth until the call out is so loud and constant you can’t ignore it. Even when the “truth” emerges, it’s like what Borebage says, it’s a version of the truth. Which fits an agenda, and as long as it fits the agenda it will do.
Boris’ parties as an example, is it really that important? Probably not, but if it brings him down then the left will be happy but the same institutional deceiving bastards will still be pulling the strings.
To get to the truth I’d like to know
1. Why now? They the powers that be have sat on it for over a year.
2. The Met must have known about it from the start, why have they just got involved?
3. The law is the law regardless of the offence. Why were the Met happy to let the internal investigation carry on before they may or may not get involved. If someone died in my workplace the police and HSE would be all over it. If I said, it’s ok Steve the maintenance manager is doing and internal investigation I’m sure the police would have something to say about that.

The right thinkers will tell you that it’s just a cake and a few drinks and nibbles there’s more things to worry about.
Each version hold some truth but both sides must know deep down that the truth goes much much deeper than what’s being offered.

Carrie's mate was the mole.
She either convinced Boris that Cummings was the mole, or he didn't want to sack her friend, or Johnson just got very confused.
Cummings sacked.

Revenge is a dish, best served cold.

Ok I get that but…
Those that are reporting on it have known for over a year the parties took place. I believe the deputy editor of The Sun was actually at one of the parties. The Met knew they were taking place, I’m sure there’s CCTV everywhere being watched 24/7, the Met officers outside would have been giving clearance to the attendees.
That’s what needs investigation, not if they were real proper party’s.
It’s smoke and mirrors and everyone accepts it because it fits their agenda to get rid of the clown.

I'm with you that there is far more to this story.
These cunts (BJ, the Met, the MSM) were telling us what to do and ignored the law themselves.
BJ deserves a brutal kicking for it - and so do plenty of others.

Then people question conspiracy theories, it’s hardly surprising when the MSM can’t be trusted to be honest, especially when it’s the BBC. I can accept newspapers etc, they have their own agenda. It wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out that that Laura Kuntsburge attended a couple.

You can't really separate newspapers and TV media. Same beast.
Wouldn't get too hung up on the Beeb.
They are hardly the only offenders.

The Beeb is the only one I contributed to. The Beeb is the one, amongst all others that are supposed to be impartial and they are not.

You pay the TV Licence, but don't watch the BBC?
Yeah, my wife watches telly, fuck knows what she watches. I pay the licence fee, she pays for other stuff. I know we have netflicks, Amazon prime and other stuff, I’ve seen the logos.
Although I was down my fathers yesterday, he had some wildlife channel on. Quite liked that and thought I wouldn’t mind watching that when I have the time. Unfortunately I’ve forgotten what the channel was. Amongst the programmes was “snakes in the city” couple of weirdos go rescue snakes from folks houses for $30 a time.
I enjoy wildlife programmes but they always seem to spoil it when some poor bastard gets eaten half way through it. Usually a penguin or something similar.

In modern terms it goes back to Wilson, 'The pound in your pocket' for example, then Heath telling us that the EEC 'was just a trading block'.

It cascaded from there, primarily under Major, then under Blair and Mandleson, it is now simply the way politics is 'done'.

Any sensible person who thought about these things at all knew that they were being lied to, it was self evident but as long as the lies were not too big and most normal people were left to get on with their lives, they did not worry about it much.

Maybe…
Thinking about it, Profumo Affair. Early 60’s, he didn’t resign over his affair, he resigned because he was caught lying to parliament which at the time was massive. Now it’s par for the course.

You pay the TV Licence, but don't watch the BBC?
I find myself in a similar situation, by watching the occasional bit of live TV, sport usually, I am required by law to pay the license fee. I do not watch the BBC at all except for MOTD/2, no news or current affairs, no soaps, reality shows or light entertainment or anything like that really.

Mrs AFC does record the occasional drama, but we have plenty of alternatives on Sky or Netflix and I could easily do without MOTD/2 if it was a choice. I would happily tell the BBC to whistle for the money but Mrs AFC is scrupulously fair, we do watch stuff, very rarely but we do so we must pay.

The John Vassall scandal was far worse than Profumo, but as usual in UK politics - a big of shagging is worse than selling state secrets to the Soviets.

The resigning issue in the Profumo case was misleading (lying to) the House of Commons, not the shagging per sé. And Vassall got a long prison sentence didn’t he?

At least the Met haven't covered Boris's arse.
We don't know that yet.
Plod stand outside No.10, they report to Cressida Dick not Johnson yet the Met didn't bother looking intoany of these parties and must have told their officers not to interfere with people bringing suitcases of booze into the building or leaving pissed at four in the morning.
During the same period members of the public were being nicked and charged.

There was a degree of sarcasm in my post.

The whole thing stinks.

Ironic from someone who has been spreading utter bullshit for 2 years
