Betting virgin needs advice from you hard-arsed gamblers

After watching the Italian ladies tennis player Jasmine Paolini at Eastbourne a few weeks ago, I put £20 on her to win Wimbledon at 100/1👍. I even had to open a William Hill account as I’ve never had an on-line account.
Anyway she’s now in the semis, and I can cash out for £361.
Is it possible to take half the £361 and let the rest ride?
Exciting this gambling malarky aint it😀

Cash out?
I'd let it ride.
Then you can invest in a few toilet rolls for when you shit yourself on the sofa watching the Final!

Not a gambling expert but sounds like you want £180 now and potentially a grand if she wins!
You should've placed 2 x tenner bets. I should've done so in 2015/16

Reminds me of the time I watched my Leicester city team under the management of Brendan Rodgers…..gut instinct and ‘seeing with your own eyes’ can be the best way to convince you to use the services of the bookmaker

Not sure about William Hill but I know Bet365 have a sliding scale as to how much of the bet you want to cash out. It should show on the cash out page if William Hill do the same. Failing that I would ring William Hill and ask them if they can do it. I'm sure they would be happy to oblige to try and limit their losses.

This is the time for a ‘hedge’. As mentioned above, what you need to do is bet £500 on her opponent in the semi, if the opponent wins you are (approx) £1000 up. If Paolini wins bet £500 on her opponent in the final, if the opponent wins you still are (approx) £1000 up, if Paolini wins you happily pick up £2000 .. less the 2 x £500 hedges and your are still (approx) £1000 up! Can’t lose!

Edited to say the above numbers are not correct .. in the case of the opponent in the final winning .. but anyway the principle is clear!

WILLIAM HILL ?
I thought you would have been betting with Paddy Power ??

Ha, ha! It’s a long time since I’ve been called Paddy - eh, Grog😀
It’s been a hell of a long time, since I was called “Grog”
Had countless nicknames since then, most of them a bit more appropriate and humorous than that one 😉
How the devil are you keeping these days ? I presume you still live in the area ?

if you have enough money you could open a betfair account lay the 361 at 4.8 meaning you would lose 1,372 on the bet but get 2000 back of hills showing a profit of 618 and if she loses you woud still get your 361 , so you could still cheer her on for a extra 257

saying that though to get the 361 laid you may have to go to 5 (4/1)

i hope you did not cash out , that must of been one hell of a roller coaster ride for you

Quite simple. Back the opponent who is currently 1.75 on betfair which means if you have 500 on you win 375, if your girl wins you win 1500, it is called hedging.

It’s official.
I am a lilly livered, yellow-bellied, cowardly wanker😢😢😢.
I’ve only just summoned up the nerve to admit it.
When Paolini had her service broken in the first game of the third set of the semi-final against Vekic, and looked well and truly beaten, I cashed out (I know, you don’t have to tell me, I’m a moron). I figured, with the money I’d win with my cash-out plus my hedge bet on Vekic, I’d be £550 up. I was certain she would lose.
Forward 30 minutes, Vekic is knackered, physically and mentally. Paolini is rejuvenated and is in the final.
Still, I thought, Paolini would never beat hot favourite Rybikina in the final. Then Rybikina goes and loses to the Czech outsider, and Paolini is now odds-on to be Champion.😢😢😢
Oh, woe is me - what a tosser☹️
Betting is a mugs game.

I bet (see what I didi there?) you have new found respect for all those who didn't cash out in 2016!

I have to admit that since you said about your bet I have been watching Paolini and I am looking forward to her final this afternoon.
No diving, cheating or bad mouthing the referee (If you do you will be sent to North Korea!!!)
