Brexit Update

I don't need luck. I was born British. I won first prize in the lottery of life.
Given that pretty much anyone can rock up in this country, do a bit of paperwork and call themselves 'British' makes the term meaningless.

I consider myself English and, when asked, describe myself as such. I am very comfortable with that.

Perhaps for you - I’m well aware it’s possible for people to identify in more than one way in relation to their nationality/background.

That this might annoy some (particularly those that have their own strange arbitrary “100% British” criteria) is a problem for them.

Morning Mm.

To be honest my national/ethnic identity barely concerns me. On the odd occasion I think about it or if it comes up in conversation as in the posts above, I identify as English. I have no idea how English I am, my parents and grandparents were but before that I have no idea, I could do some research/testing but it doesn't matter to me so I don't.

Being 'British' is an administrative convenience/nuisance to me, nothing more.

If you're not British - what was the main driver for you in supporting Brexit?
I thought I explained that, I am/feel English, being British is an administrative matter. I would like an independent England, but am comfortable in partnership with Scotland and Wales.

Not Northern Ireland then?

Personally I have no affection for Ireland, any part of it. Mrs AFC was born in Dundonald, just to the east of Belfast, she does not think much of the place either.

Under different circumstances I would be happy to get rid, though to be frank, it means little to me one way or another.
