Faes GONE

I guess the political situation there is such that they chose Wout Faes over a reliable infantry division. Is Top in charge of the UAE?
Money is money, it just seems an odd career choice.

I'm genuinely surprised at how much glee there is around over this. I mean, I know I'm happy but my views don't always align with the majority! And over the same issue, his attitude. The theatrical throwing of the arms in the air, the willingness to point finger, to not accept his own mistakes... at one end of the scale, these could all simply be body language. Yet we (certainly me) interpret it as "attitude" and criticise him for it. It might actually just be what he does, how he reacts to us conceding a goal. No more than that.

Sure, his defending can be poor, and equally his judgement. He does find himself out of position, or misjudging either the ball or defender. But equally, he has had his moments. He's made some pretty good saving tackles, and on a good day can pass a ball, and carry it on his marauding runs. I guess what I'm saying is that he isn't a totally shit defender. We've arguably had worse. And, sure, he should be better. As an international playing in League 1, it should be a cake walk.

But whatever. It's not like really I care, and I am pleased he's gone. I'm just a little surprised at the depth of feeling. Sign of the times maybe?

I quite liked him. Best CB we had even with his weaknesses. Fans can't take a bit of shit back from players after they've been giving them shit every week for months. Sort of sums up the way football crowds are going. Sad times for him and us.

Always a potential car crash, but Im afraid that being one of “that team”, means he had no future here.

He has leadership qualities, we don't have many. We have a lot of quiet leaders in our squad, we don't have so many leaders that are out there. He will bring that authority which you have to have in a team.

“He's aggressive in his defending so he fits the profile of how we want to defend. And he can play football. He can pass the ball which is also very important. It's great to have him in and he'll take the number three and hopefully do as well as Wesley had done.

Bodgers summary of another naff signing.
