Favourite Place to Live in the UK

The Wife and I, in better times for us, stayed at the Station House , Lingwood. Half way between Norwich and Gt Yarmouth. The Guest House doubled as the railway station. A 17 minute journey into Norwich Station along the Wherry Line. A good old fashioned Diesel loco took us back to our abode for the night. Great pub at the end of the lane, Kings Head, where we watched a friends Prog Rock band belt out the Floyd and Genesis.
Lingwood for me.

Cornwall. Gorgeous place.
Me and the wife are looking at buying a retirement home there next year once brexit destroys the economy and house prices and the pound drop.

Sadly when this happens you will not be allowed to 'own' property, it will be 'acquired' by the state and given to their pets.

I've not lived there (yet), but visit all through the year.

What year was that first Ruda visit? The place keeps getting bigger.

The Kings Arms is owned by a Leicester lad. The brother of the lady who runs The Manor. Got a great conservatory in there as you will know. I think it does the best food too; but do like a sunny afternoon in the Thatch. So to speak...

Either 1964 or '65 was the my debut there. We used to go twice a year, at Easter and Whit. I stopped travelling with the family c'68 but would often take in a w/e with them.

Shortly after that my folks bought a holiday bungalow in Bude so by-passed the N Devon coast, though went to Croyde in '82 with friends and was absolutely astonished at how Ruda had virtually become a small village in its own right.

Those boozers were under local ownership when I used them, but if we make a nostalgic visit I will make sure I drop in for a beer.

Good luck in buying in that area. It is special.

BLUE ARMY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lived in Saundersfoot for a few years it was great in the summer and even better in the winter with a very local social scene but all of Pembrokeshire is magical.

The Lakes for me.
Wints, where do you go in the Lakes, as ive been up there this weekend and loved it. My nephew as a B& B in Keswick and we watch the game Sunday in a pub there, there was 12 of us supporting City and when we scored there was a big cheer upstairs, so out of the 30 or so people in there half were City fans.
As for living somewhere else, it would be Brighton, Covent Garden of which we've toyed with buying a crash pad there for family reasons, or the Brecon beacons as i'm the rightful Prince of Wales.

Apart from Leicester Kirkby.
Once met a well known woman from there in the Crown by Lime Street.
As I went to leave to catch a train back to Leicester she said " You're coming back to Kirkby with me la-.
So I did and it was a mad place but a real laugh

Stoke Gabriel on the River Dart near Totnes. Has barely changed in the 42 years I've been visiting. Took the youngest out kayaking down and across to Dittisham during the summer. I didn't stop smiling for the whole three hours we were out there. Has a great cider farm nearby with some great varieties (Hunt's). I'd happily see out my days there. I love the Lake District but couldn't be doing with the endless rain.

just returned from torbay westherts. absolutely love it down there. family ties means we visit two or three times a year.
kids love the crabbing at stoke gabriel.

Been camping at Whitehall Farm on and off since late 70s. Stoke Gabriel is a little gem of a place. Always enjoy a lazy day around the Quayside. My parents had their honeymoon there and took us back multiple times!

Croyde, North Devon. Nice and quiet most of the time and two Leicester owned pubs in the area. Though sadly a N*******m one as well.
We stopped in a room above a pub at Croyde the night of the classic 3-3 with Arsenal. Never been back since

I've lived in Tilton on the hill, Oakham, Portsmouth and Corby. Definitely preferred Corby out of all of them. Anywhere in the UK? Anywhere on the coast road from Hunstanton to Wells.

There is a huge difference between places you like to go on holiday and where it would be good to live permanently.
