Football Programmes

Anybody still collect them, I've got thousands, moved house last year ain't got the room, mainly in boxes in the loft.
Said to my son in Law these will be all all yours one day a quick No Thanks was his reply 😳.
Not sure what to do,no good in the loft but don't really want to get rid 🤔💙

I stopped buying match programmes many, many years ago now. I only keep the Cup Final programmes, Play-off Finals,Community Shield and some of the recent Euro games we enjoyed as souvenirs. Also found it easier to buy the ones I really want online before the match happens rather than have to lug them around on a match day trying to keep them pristine. Unfortunately the way things are going at the moment I don’t see any enlargement of my essential collection happening any time soon!

Put them up for sale on here with money going to Loros or other suitable charity.
Clear up loft space. Everyone's a winner.

We've all had to bite the bullet and get rid. There now like a relic of the past rather than an heirloom.

I stopped buying them years ago too. 3d was ok but £3 is far too much to spend when all you do is fold it in half and stick it in your pocket. I did however go on E Bay last year and buy the program from my first match in November 1962. I didnt get it for 3d though

Got every home since I was born Sept 64 to end of last season. Tickets, train tickets etc all with them. Finals, semis, friendlies also. Flogged my aways 68 - 2000 a few years back. Won't be adding to the collection now.
Would love to see the programme from my first game, v orient 28 November 70, or even just scanned or photographed pages.

Here you go Wints.

I have every City home programme from 1958-2010 in my basement, bar a couple that I’m still chasing. The old ones make great reading every so often.

Hoped I might have a double of the O’s game but unfortunately not.

My collection of Leicester City programmes starts at the 1945/46 season, and is ongoing. Need 50 or so to complete all Homes and Aways, League and domestic cups. Reading the 1940`s and 50`s editions gives a flavour of life in Britain back then in the post war years. Invites to join your local civil defence unit, supporters club functions where "Ladies" would be made welcome. Service ranks afore names on team line ups.
And...medical advice from Dr Fosse.

Much appreciated.

Never considered that Dennis Rofe had played for Orient that day, and of course, Bloomfield was managing them.

Respect Firenze, that’s awesome.

I have a bunch of doubles from the early 60’s, so if you need any from that era let me know.

And I agree that the old ones are a bit of a social commentary of the day. Two that always catch my eye are the adverts for boys as young as 16 to start working down the mines, and for jobs in the police, where the pay is stated and clearly discriminates between men and women.

I've stil got some but not many. My dad used to buy me one when we went to games in the 70's but in the 80s when i was going by myself is was too skint to buy one after the ticket and bus fare.
Still got the Mike Stringfellow Testimonial one though.

Great job mate total respect to you Sir!! My collection started in the late 70s after I was given a few by a mate. I put a post card in to Swap Shop on Radio Leicester and swapped my old Action men and clobber for a large qty with a bloke from Glenfield. Sorted em out and 4 or 5 missing from each season, then you start looking for them. Once working it was proggy fairs in the old Main Stand, car boot sales etc. Whilst of course buying the current home and aways as they happened. It's a slippery slope. The present offering has less and less of any interest tbh. My favourite season in terms of interesting content and value for money was the landscape offering from 2008/9 - our brief stay in League 1.

I probably have most if not all of those, I didn't realise they could be so valuable. When I moved house 14 years ago I stuck them all in boxes & put them in the garage, they are still there. Perhaps I should sort them out.

I do remember that we played Bristol City at home in the FA Cup, must have been late 50's or early 60's. The Saturday game was postponed & when the game was re-arranged the club produced a single sheet of paper with the teams on. I have that.

But I suppose these things are only valuable if someone wants to buy them.

Not programmes but I still have some of those Daily Express folding hats which had the team name and some had photos.
In the good old 60's I only got ripped off once with one of those fake programmes.

I would love to see a report on my first game.

Leicester 1 Liverpool 1........1975.

I'm not sure if Keegan scored the Reds goal and Keith Weller equalised late in the game.
