State of the nation. You could be right, but right now people want to get their lives back and squabbling politicos are a turn off.
This pretty much sums up the current state of the Labour party.Keir Starmer's fundamental problem is that large swathes of his party detest the very people that used to be Labour's core support.
He can try to *act* like that's not true all he likes, but voters aren't stupid. They know it's true.
Labours essential coalition of support has collapsed and cannot be rebuilt. The traditional working class found out via the Brexit experience what the modern middle class Left thinks of it. Now issue after issue is further widening the gulf.
Labour is two parties now, co-existing uneasily, pro-Remain London and the other affluent cities, and places like Hartlepool.
The two despise each other, but only one side will admit to it.
Labour needs to split and rebuild, or die.
This pretty much sums up the current state of the Labour party.
The Momentum Left hate the Blairites as Tory-lite, and that there's some sort of socialist purity test you have to pass, and the centrists know that if they go all out lefty they will be as un-electable as Michael Foot's donkey jacket. Catch 22.
The apparatchiks in the Labour heirarchy have mostly changed from ordinary working class folk to middle class university educated, and they see the world and the party through their eyes, and nobody elses.
The Tories might be the Golgafrinchams from hitchhikers, with literally no clue how to govern, but they know how to pick some issues to win elections on.
The Left think that every voter is rational, and if you give them the facts they'll take make the sensible choice, but they don't.
Just look at some of the response to Hartlepool. A lot of people are saying "i can't understand how they voted that way", or words to that effect. That is the problem, you need to understand , and do something about it, not just tell them they're thick.
Michael foots donkey jacket remark sort of shows where you got your thinking from. This pretty much sums up the current state of the Labour party.

Are you disagreeing with my opinion or just being a dick for no reason dickie, i can't tell.Michael foots donkey jacket remark sort of shows where you got your thinking from.
As unelectable as Millibands bacon sandwich and Corbyns anti semitism
Correct. The problem with middle class university educated lefties is that they try to talk for the working class ex Labour voters and get it completely wrong.
Then they call the traditional working class ex Labour voters who don’t understand what they are talking about (because they’re talking shit about what they think they know about) on their behalf thick.
It’s because the average middle class University educated lefty is a twat.
Labour voters know your place. None of these university aspirations.Clement Attlee was a middle-class, university educated leftie.
Are we saying that we don’t want that in the UK anymore? Or is that reverse snobbery?
What a ridiculous statement, its the metropolitan elite that try to talk for and down on Labour voters that’s the issue.Labour voters know your place. None of these university aspirations.
As i them said twats a bit harsh. Naive idealist is probably more accurate."It’s because the average middle class University educated lefty is a twat."
Fortunately many of them grow out of when the harsh reality of paying for things yourself kicks in
I don’t think education really come into it. Just an inclination not to vote for a party with a leader & cabinet ministers that bullshit as often as they do & are as corrupt as they are.As i them said twats a bit harsh. Naive idealist is probably more accurate.
The culture war the right wing media constant promote is working brilliantly for the Tory elite.Good job the PM and most of his cabinet are not rich Etonian Oxbridge educated Hooray Henrys isn't it?
So why is Johnson- the ultimate elitist , PM ?To represent the people you have to be one of the people
The culture war the right wing media constant promote is working brilliantly for the Tory elite.
Let’s get angry about statues, footballers , speakers at universities, foreigners , the proms, clothes people wear etc and no one will notice the dismantling of our democracy and the increasing inequality in our country .
The sneering at education is particularly worrying
