Keep The Faith Soulie Tunes

Looking For You was a B side on the original label that I bought,Walt. It just got more plays at the time!

Who else used to leave a cassette recorder near the stage at Wigan and then when you played it back in the car on the way home it just sounded shit,LOL!

The "three before eight" at Wigan Casino,
I'm On My Way - Dean Parrish
Time Will Pass You By - Tobi Legend
Long After Tonight Is All Over - Jimmy Radcliffe

Sad fact that Jimmy Radcliffe never got to see that his song would achieve such cult status. He died of kidney failure, after 2 operations, just 36 years old in 1973. Wigan Casino opened it's doors for the first time for Northern Soul just 2 months later!

Not rare soul but beautiful soul. How can anyone fail to love this. The late great Teddy Pendergrass.
I recently watched the bio doc about him ... If you don’t know me by now. Fantastic programme ... possibly on iPlayer.

That really is a tremendous tune. The intro' , the build up layer upon layer & then Teddy's vocal. " I can remember planning"

Northern Soul DJs. Some of them still do the rounds. About 5 years ago at a Northern Soul Night at Far Cotton WMC Russ Winstanley did a set ... I have to say I thought it was poor. It was as though he was trying to educate us with the rarest soul he could find. And there’s a reason some soul is rare. It was a same because a young woman before him had nailed it.

By contrast Kev Roberts did a set in Kettering and it was the best couple of hours of soul you could wish for.

I also went to a great night at the Spinney Hill WMC I think set up by the Leicester Scooter Club and they had a couple of named DJs there. Great night but drink was involved so I can’t remember who they were.

I hope when things are ‘back to normal’ the soul resurgence continues. Be nice to get back to one of Fitzy’s soul nights at the KP.

You probably already know that I love this one

Come on Train reminds me of the floor bouncing at Coalville Tiffs. I don't know who the DJ was but he always played 5 together and it seemed like everyone was waiting for the change in style because the place would be enigised. The 5 were.

Come on Train
I'm Shaft - RB Freeman
The Bottle. - GSH
Does any one know what time - Chicago

and my minds gone blank on the 5th even though I've got the vinyl somewhere. It'll come !!
