At QPR Soumare played a deep midfield role so I guess he can play defensive midfield if needed.

i think the club expected hamza to go to newcastle, leaving mendy as backup....but ashley refused to pay a loan fee.
if we have a recall option it probably makes sense to have him out on loan...although on his performances last year its a shame.

Mendy did very well filling in for Ndidi last year and Rodgers clearly preferred him to Hamza. Are we now losing our 1st choice back-up to Nidi because the loan for our 2nd choice fell through?

Not happening now. Couldn’t arrange the medical in time. All summer and Galatasaray leave it until the last minute

Mendy loan now off. Can't get from Dakar to Turkey in time to complete a medical. Not in the Europa League Squad or maybe not the Premier League Squad so could be left a bit high and dry. He's not had the best of luck has he. What with the initial injury he got soon after his arrival and now all this. Feel sorry for the lad!

I would put him in the League squad rather than Choudhury. That way both of them get the opportunity of some games, though in reality neither are likely to play that much unless we get yet another spate of injurie.
