Mentioning the 800 years of occupation didn't buckin help

I understand the point Gerry I couldn't quite remember which tavern because there was one in Leicester and I was visiting . It was an almighty shock to me as you can imagine and I do remember the trial and Paul Foots campaign to free the Birmingham Six in private eye. My mates wife is Irish (North and Catholic! ) and she used to complain bitterly that every time she went to go back she was stopped and searched at airports etc. The governments, landlords and robber barons that suppressed the Irish did no favours to working classes here and starvation and death was an annual event divide and rule was their tactics till is. Although the Irish suffered a lot more it doesn't help their cause when ALL English (didn't the Scots suffer too?) are blamed? Again it's divide and rule from those in power, besides you've had your revenge by conquering tv and entertainment here spearheaded by Wogan, Graham Norton, Dara O'Brien and numerous others too many to mention! šŸ˜‰
Ps Have a listen to Elvis Costello's(Declan Patrick MacManus) 'Oliver's Army' he says much the same.

Stokie I know you are a ref but are you ACTUALLY blind?
I just said I hope they prosecute the scumbag who did it
And as a matter of interest, without googling, name the two pubs?
Don't need to google anything working in a Brum restaurant at the time run by a lovely Irish man who's daughter was due to meet up in the Tavern that night..but plans got changed thank God

Herein lies part of the problem Gerry. You were taught all about many of these events which just stirs up the anti English / British / Protestant bias by default. We are not taught these things we choose to research and make our own judgements on these matters if we want to. This does not stir up anti Irish / Catholic bias which is one reason why the Irish are welcomed across all corners of England, Scotland and Wales (except for maybe parts of Glasgow) and why many Irish come over to work here and set up new lives for themselves.

I understand the hatred towards us I really do. Bloody Sunday was a disgrace as the prime example but it worked both ways, both the British and the Irish lost innocent lives over a great number of years.

Ever wondered why we are not taught them?
