New Manager discussion

Would Like to Have: Tom Cleverly? Was struggling on this; who is going to want to drop down a decision. Maybe someone who has just missed out on promotion.
Will Probably Get (knowing our track record of recruitment): Liam Rosenior, Wayne Rooney!
 
I don't think Rosenoir would be interested. Rooney is finished in management.

I don't really know much about other managers, so until I'm given serious names to investigate I can't really make suggestions.

I'd like a youngish manager, one who understands the evolving state of football, who understands the importance of physiology, incremental gains, nutrition, mental prep, technology etc... and that it's not just about doing laps, shuttle runs nor even tactics any longer. I want a manager who is willing to work with and listen to a team (in fact I want a management team), preferably a manager with playing or coaching experience of Division 3, a strong willed manager who can stand up to the players, club management and fans, who believes in attractive, attacking football but understands the principles and importance of defence. If they were an ex-Leicester player or coach that would be a plus, if they have always loved LCFC that would be marvellous, they must also desire to play and nurture young players and must agree to stay for at least 4 years without wanting to move on to a "bigger" club.
 
The obvious League One choice is Dave Challinor at Stockport, his teams play good football and consistently punch above their weight plus he's probably taken them as far as he can. If he'd come. The ex-Leicester player is Wellens at Orient, but his teams while capable of great performances can be very erratic and go on bad runs as of the moment.
 
Hear me out. Would you rather keep Rowett who knows the problem and the basket case of a club that he's in and can start the rebuild now, OR wait for KP to appoint someone less experienced at the end of July (cos that's what they do) who has to start all over again and will come to the inevitable realisation around November?

I don't want Rowett. He's useless. He has been even worse than Marti.
 
Any new man would be working for the board. As it is the one area over which he would have no influence, it is they who have to convince him they are serious about going back up. The current bunch clearly do not demonstrate that.

The importance of Physiology incremental gains nutrition mental prep etc what a load of crap .It's game a football ffs.Do you think 2 of our greatest managers Jock Wallace and Sir Martin were bothered about that.And before you reply with the games moved on nope it's still 90 Minutes 11 against 11.And how do you ever get a manager to agree to stay at least 4 years without moving to a bigger club.

And there you have the Jon Rudkin line of thought.

Sport has moved on. Football has moved on. a player can't spend Friday night out on th town drinking and then shag his way through saturday morning before a match and play at his optimum level. They did that in the past, For example, imagine how good George Best would have been if he didn't.

Every sport, even cycling and basketball, have shown how important those things I've listed are. Nige was one of the first who hired specialists for this sort of thing and by doing so put us ahead of the curve and helped us to lift the prem title. Only a fool - Jon Rudkin & Everton Carr - would believe otherwise.

What a load of crap.Footballers don't spend Friday night's out on the town as Robbie Fowler said social media and camera phones killed footballers being able to party.Sure you are aware Jamie Vardy Danny Simpson and Robert Hugh were\are smokers.Half of the England cricket team inc Stokes are drinkers and Smokers.Pretty sure Bradley Wiggins is also a smoker didn't do him.any harm.did it.

Well we have had 3 that have taken us to this low, l for one dont trust this bunch to say a great deal or do a great deal about getting much right as they have too much history in the cock-up department
 
All depends on what the board see (or the fans) as the best direction of travel. Lee Carlsley would be the best option IMO. How sure are we that he turned us down a few seasons back? He'd be working with a fresh slate - and budgetary wise it would be an emphasis on youth (thats of the youth we have left once we've been forced to sell the 'cream').

If you want to continue the playing style we previously had then sadly someone like Russell Martin is your best bet. Does have experience at that level and depending on who we still have in the squad they are all more accustomed to his style of play.

Reality is they hadn't planned for this one bit. They'll be looking at every assistant Man City have had for the past 20 seasons and go looking to 'poach' one. Imagine the glory of having Kolo Toure leading us. They might even consider the well trodden path of Brighton (who like Man City they continually look to mimick) and go for a assistant of any German league manager thats once been within an sniff of Klopps undercrackers!

Too soon for Fuchs as much as he embodies everything good in football.
