Eat for Christmas morning breakfast.
Is it really Melton Mowbray pork pie and Colston Bassett stilton.
Sounded lovely. Thought I might give it a try this Xmas.
Any suggestions?

As the only Leicestershire person in the house I have a large slice of Dickinson & Morris pork pie to myself. My family being my wife from York ( I throw in Richard iii every now and then) and my southern shandy drinking twin boys think I’m mad. It’s the only time of the year I eat it as it’s basically a heart attack on a plate. Bloody delicious.

Colston Bassett Stilton is creamier than Long Clawson Stilton which is crumblier and slightly saltier Soho, but both go well with the Dickenson and Morris famous Melton Mowbray pork pie on Christmas morning...enjoy and Merry Christmas 🎅

Pork pie with some bread and butter.

It's essential you get a quality pork pie though.
Such as Dickinson and Morris, Walkers or Mrs King's.

Also Brockleby's (near Melton) and Joseph Morris at South Kilworth are quality pies.

Best knowing they're made within the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Triangle

Unpopular opinion I'm sure but prefer the Pork Pies up here with the pink meat in the middle rather than the grey Melton Mowbray ones.

I have to disagree. Although I'm not sure where "up here" is for you.

I had one when I was in Whitby in the summer. Made by Bothams (supposedly famous?) and it was bland as hell. Short crust pastry, no jelly and the meat texture was horrible.

As for their sausage rolls I'd rather have a Greggs.

York.

I’ve just google searched and watched a video posted at Bothams Whitby and I wouldn’t want one of those! Bloody tourist trap 😀

The local butchers round here do exceptional pork pies.
