One of the most fearful moments is taking that first step. With this in mind, I take this step and invite one and all to join us here in a cup of good cheer.

Bang on. That first step when trying out a pair of varifocals is a potentially calamitous one. You seem like one who can understand the mind altering properties of such.

Plucked this old one out of my wife's drawer. A precocious talent, she wrote this one aged eleven! Why not read, contemplate, feel inspired and share with us your quiet thoughts? Better still, why not join us in the sweet land of verse?

Bump in the Night

It was a bump
That bumped in the night
Up like a rod
I sat bolt upright

Say that I'm fully
Blossomed and ripe
No longer a child
To take fright at night

Just being fragile
For my age's not right
But it wasn't a bump
That bumped out of sight

Certain of that
I'm sure that you might
Learn for yourself
What bumps in the night.

Thank you for sharing with us. I do wear glasses, but mainly for driving, theatre and opera. What is your experience of glasses?

You're most welcome. Well I don't think I should really share my experiences of glasses on here. Let's just say they are unconventional.

Anyway, I would much prefer to pay tribute to your wife's fine verse, which was no doubt inspired by your upright rod and maybe the odd bump in the night. I believe I misunderstood you BJ. I now stand firm that you are an upstanding member. I admire the cultural revolution you are attempting to vigorously hammer home here.

I'm not sure if that is a compliment or an insult. Thank you. There does appear to be a childish preoccupation with all things sexual on this site.

Well, as the saying goes, one man's meat is another man's poison. I've often wondered if, as often happens in etymological evolution, "poison" here started life as "poisson". That would make sense to me since poisson is, of course, French for fish and, as James Barclay (I believe) observed: the bovine and the ovine never succumb* to liquor, yet a fish is always legless. I've always had a fondness for philosophical poetry, as I expect do you, and possibly your wife.

* pronounced suck cum, not suck comb.

Such an outlandishly creative message. What a hoot! Totally ruined by a desire to curry favour with the likes of Toilet-mouth VanLes.

I'd love to hear more, without the appendage.

Or do fannies smell of fish?
We wondered when the Scottish Fagin would prop his head above the parapet. Personally, we are delighted that you lost control of the other site. Delighted that others picked up the baton. Although it has to be confessed that your abysmal followers haven't improved much, since the move.

But what is a body (of work) without an appendage ? I fear one might lose an important part of the thrust and drive of any oeuvre and be left hanging.

I appreciate your clever word play. You have a genuine talent. Your musings even had my wife smiling, and believe me, there is nothing much of recent event that has had my wife smiling. Our community is in a dreadful state, even if our immediate community is one of great faith, solidarity and good manners.

Why not tell us more about your musings, your thoughts, your concerns? We would be very happy to hear your heart-felt concerns. Just without the need to be rude at the end.

But what is language if it is not open to interpretation, if its rich nuances are not laid bare for everyone to suck hungrily from its bounty ? That some might let their minds wander into the darker recesses when trying to comprehend the true meaning of any communication is, I fear, a natural part of the human condition.

I agree. It's a worthy endeavour. But let us not lose the context of this particular discussion on the subject.
I reply as a much insulted individual. An individual whose wife has been insulted too. And yes, yes, with sexual references that were not arrived at as you describe, but by low humour and what I assume to be tabloid style indoctrination.

Then we must pray for their putrid souls Brother John and may they one day soften their hard approach, which clearly can lead to spillages of emotion in others.

I sometimes like to set aside time for reflection and today I challenged myself to really think about the phrase I used earlier. After all, often it is only by truly deep penetration that one achieves full satisfaction. I wondered if others do this. Per chance Brother John do you ever think about another man's meat or, indeed, their poison ? For I believe it's only by considering how others perceive the world that we can fully develop our own potential to understand how it works.

Very disappointing.

I hope the moderators will read this thread and do something. What was the point in shutting down Mac and his odiously repugnant website and opening this one if you're going to allow the same people to destroy your new website?
