Public Sector Pay Freeze

Here we go again. Whistles out. Start getting your throat cleared to sing about the red flag.

Meanwhile out in the real world ...

Meanwhile - out in the real world our beloved government is pissing away hundreds of millions on dodgy deals with companies not fit for purpose set up in the last few weeks by old chums from Eton and the spouses of ministers.

To be paid for by pay freezes and increased taxes on the rest of us.

Is it any wonder people get pissed off?

Meanwhile out in the real world ...

Meanwhile out in the real world MPs get ANOTHER generous pay rise (their EIGHTH pay rise in 10 years), an extra £16.5B is found to piss away on insane military procurement projects that once again funnel public money into a few private hands and fuck only knows how many billions are pumped into an enormous white elephant that will allow Londoners to get to Brum 20 minutes quicker (and vice versa obviously)

But darn those moaning workers trying to secure a living wage. Fucking commies.

bbb always has a bee in his bonnet about public sector workers. Don't know what they've done to upset him so much.

bill is just one of these people who wont let stuff go. Gawd knows he is STILL angry with me from an away trip to Brighton from goodness only knows how many years ago!

Spot on eggsy. More power to your pinko commie elbow comrade :)

Altogether now:

Yeh but want about the million workers in the hospitality industry looking down the barrall of a long stint signing on.

Or all the small business‘ being smashed to smithereens for doing morphing wrong.

Fuck me there are plenty worse off.

You know, the people losing their homes and having to live off food banks, just because this horrid virus has meant they're losing everything simply for being in the wrong sector when the cards are dealt.

No pay freeze for them. Bar workers, hotel workers, workers in the travel industry, cleaners of offices in big cities.

I could go on..

..with a special shout out to some of the teachers (not all obviously) who hid behind their Union and watched Netflix for 3 months whilst some of the above people had to home teach their kids, whilst worrying about their jobs...and being able to pay the mortgage...without so much as a phone call from their school to see how they were coping.

You can sit back and bleat about Priti Patel but these people are fucked despite furlough which is a brilliant thing.

Without slashing business rates which is a brilliant thing.

Without loans at ridiculously low state back interest rates. Which are a brilliant thing.

Still fucked. Because they can't trade. And no government can do anything about that comrades.

So bleat about a pay freeze whilst the very people who generate the tax to pay you rot.

Why do people always fall for it ? As our corrupt government almost daily shows examples of the enrichment of their pals at our expense on an industrial scale many decide attacking out teachers , firefighters , police , health workers is much more relevant

This government are so transparent . A few words to Rupert Murdoch about the target this week . The poison is drip fed and the corrupt cabal carry on regardless while the people turn on themselves

It’s only you pinko’s who go on about ‘divide and rule’.

If you’re looking for sympathy from the general population who pay for the services you’ll find a load of them concentrating on mere survival.

Im all ears if you come up with alternative solutions to how we fund the furlough scheme and reduced tax take.

Pinko ? ffs How old are you ? Am I hitting out at my money being handed out in furlough to keep businesses I will never use afloat ? No , because working folks of this country need support . All of them except the Tory donors and cronies being handed literally hundreds of millions in untendered contracts.
That is what you should be angry about not attacking public sector workers who yet again will be paying for the governments corrupt incompetence for decades.

The Tories handing out these contracts makes little to no difference to the fact that this virus has fucked the country economically.

I always find that it helps enormously when trying to get across a point of view (and presumably attempting to get others to consider it) to dispense with cold facts and hard logic and use emotive, baseless and sensationlist hyperbole. I seem to recall it was covered in Chapter 7 of Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People". Or was it Chapter 8 ?

Uk GDP fell 2.2% in Quarter 1 and 20.4% in Q2. By June GDP was 17.2% down on that for February.

This is unprecedented in the post war era. The reduction in tax recipts will be similarly unprecedented.

The latest unemployment figures have shown a rise to 4.8% which is 1.62 million people. However, redundancies for the 3 months to September rose at records levels. Note this is despite the government effort to prop up jobs with the furlough scheme. Close to 10 million furlough claims have been made with 2 million still being funded by the state. The Bank of England is forecasting 7.7% unemployment by mid next year. This needs to be funded, will reduce the tax take and weaken the public finances.

The UK hospitality industry is the countries 4th largest employing circa 3.2 million people and a further 2.8 million indirectly. That’s 6 million people with no job security. It normally adds £73 billion to the economy and a further £87 billion indirectly. Assuming the restrictions end at the end of November this will have been unable to function for third of 2020. The tax take from this sector alone will be decimated and therefore public services will need to be paid for by a combination of higher taxes, cuts and debt in future.

Funding the crisis will mean less money in the general publics pockets. Taxes will inevitably rise. Everyone bar the few cronies will be hit. Therefore complaining about wage freezes is futile. The private sector is suffering far more.

No doubt some will game the system including some of the Tories cronies. However, the average government tender return is 26 days. Thats after the tender document has been put together and legally ratified. Maybe, just maybe, the Tories turned away from a tender process and gave the jobs to their mates because the timeframe for delivery otherwise would have seen thousands more dead and Doctor's and Nurses (who quite rightly aren’t the subject of these freezes) with no protection and exposed for longer.

Many many British companies who actually produce ppe but were ignored would , I suspect, have been better placed and considerably cheaper than a Jeweller in Miami . I don’t suppose we will ever know as the head of the body charged with investigating such profligacy - is married to Dido Harding .

Hence me saying that their bent cronies will no doubt get off with a load of cash Foxgolfer.

But that’s just a side show. The stark economic reality is that we’re very fucked and the normal citizen will be paying for it irrespective of which sector they’re in. And the private sector employee in a host of industries is currently experiencing much worse than a pay freeze.

The facts are there.
