West Ham was horrible.
We took a good following numbers wise but that end with City and West Ham and no segregation was a long 90 minutes.
West Ham charged at us up the terracing.

Forest away abandoned at ht with my two small kids was a bit scary…I was also at St Andrew’s for Blues Millwall 1992/3 which was banging away….

Birmingham October 72, we took a good following, plod escort from New Street, got near to the ground when the Brum mobs came out the pubs and threw pint glasses at us. We rushed to get in the ground, went in the wrong end and got ran out across the pitch to the other end of the ground. Those of us that were still in their end, maybe 50 or so were surrounded but the old bill kept us safe until the end of the game..... I ran like hell back to New Street station, there were quite a few of us that looked like they had taken a beating. Pretty frightening for a kid of 15.

Chelsea 72, a few hundred of us, arrived at the bridge to find their bovver boys waiting for us. One lone teenage Leicester boy, offered them out one by one, mental or just fearless who knows? He took a beating as they kicked him senseless, he was on the train back but looked a bit of a mess. My one and only trip to Stamford Bridge, never been back.

Is that the game steve Earl made his debut for us ? We went 2 0 up I got jumped by a few of there lads got away and seeked safety in the shed end 😳😳, with about 15 minutes to the end I thought I've ridden my luck and we were winning well so of to the station for me but unfortunately the bstards spotted me again and gave chase but i managed to get away again. Thinking well at least I've seen us win regardless of the kicks and knocks ' only to get to the station bought a paper only to find we'd lost 3 2, or was that 1973???

No it was a 1-1 draw, Earl signed for Leicester in the 74/75 season I think. Chelsea were always among the very worst for violence up till Putins mate took control, always kicked off at our place.

Sorry but it was definitely before 74 as I was at uni in Southampton 70 to 74 and I travelled back to Southampton that day, I can remember it was very close to Christmas an Earl made his debut because one of the tossers made out he was a Fulham fan and I fell for it 🧐🥊

I was in the Army at that time, training at Harrogate and home on leave to see the Wolves game on boxing day. Missed out on that great Bloomfield team that just fell short and lost to the Scousers in the FA Cup semi final relay.

Oh the shock when I thought I’d just escaped the shower of bricks and pint glasses only to find ourselves in the Brum end - that sprint across the pitch was a bit shameful. Stoke away was always a bad day out.

l was at that one as well, had a few iffy trips there around that time. Always did ok on our way to the ground, not so good in it or afterwards. I seem to remember a night game there that wasn't for the faint hearted.

Leeds away around '72 ish, bad on the way to the ground and worse on the way back, l got all the way to station forecourt safely then walked straight into about 50 or 60 of their bootboys. l tried to blag it by walking through them as if l was Leeds and not bothered, dint work, a police dog saved from a bad kicking after I'd gone down. l was 15 at the time, and got away with it at Wolves so thought it was better than trying to escape !

That West Ham one was a fucker weren't it. We were in the Chicken Run, looked around it was full of Leicester keeping a low profile while them in the South Bank were being bullied.

There was 3 of us in my mates car after the game and he made the mistake of turning into Green street towards Barking road. We got stuck in traffic while hundreds of WH skinheads were looking in the cars for Leicester fans. In the back of our car had a sticker "R & K Car Sales Leicester" lucky none of them could read !

The worst thing about that period between 69-76 was that I was a teenage mad Leicester fan who wanted to just watch the footie. All the aggro wasn’t fun IMO. Had some terrible away days. Those big open away ends at places like Wolves and Stoke were horrible. Leeds Xmas 75. Bloody hell. They thumped us 4-0 but were after us like we were manure. Eyeballed us from their side of the wire all game. Came out at the end and you could see them looking for us. Me and my mate singing ‘Super, Super Leeds, Super …… stuck in my throat but it was the only way. Even when we got to the car they were looking at us to try and identify us.
Same year in the cup at Highbury. We were chased all over the Clock End. Think Millwall were in there too. Eventually left after 60 mins to escape the mayhem. Horrible times.

The problem also was in those days your registration gave away where you were from. I believe the reg for Leicester ended in AY?

Do any of you old timers remember Chelsea Tina a skinhead girl from Wolverhampton
Keep reading about her in books about the 70s

I left School in the Summer of 72, started work so I spent my money on following City, Those way days were al pretty dangerous who ever you played, even Highfield Road in January 73, kicked off after the game, Cov were waiting outside the West End . Massive fights outside, some well known Leicester Skinhead bird got knifed in the neck. Coppers totally lost control, it was a real battle for them to stop the violence, all over the papers the next day. There was some real hatred between us and the Cov, continued well in to the 80s and 90s, but of course we don't play each other anymore!

Ipswich away.... The day the Hari Krishnas`s come to a sleepy East Anglian town.
Mini bus in from North Northants. Rangers /Celtic buzz prior to kick off in local pub. Not The Jolly Farmer. Absolutely the height of fun and games in the ground with the antics of those in robes.
Duel carriageway out of town bus ambushed with thunder flashes and assorted missiles. Cue bale out and counter attack . Myself grabbing D2 batteries and hitting cars stopped behind us. One Ipswich fan paid the price. Half a mile up the road Hill St Blues, and every other bloody blues chased us down. Cue ID parade with us lined up in central reservation. Police car drives past with disfigured farmers boy pointing to " That`s Him". That`s him arrested and sent to local nic. About turn by the rest of us.....you never leave a man behind. Several hours in the local next to the Polis {sic} Station before man down was released, pending charges and a subsequent East of England court appearance. Reunited we set off for home and civilisation.......free of Ooh Arrghs. But not the Polis......escorted to the county boundary by the boys in Blue. Not the last time for our bus....

Tried hard to think of the worst as there's been loads of iffy ones but most of the time these have seemed good experiences afterwards. Had bumps and lumps at games and been at most of the ones mentioned. Got kicked around the floor by about 50 Turks in Izmir (l know its not City) which was no big deal really. So l think probably the worst really was Chelsea on that Boxing Day. They give us hell, though Yorkies mob put up a good show in the ground. They kept us in for about 20 minutes afterwards on a cold freezing night and the fuckers were still waiting for us, then they mingled in with us on the walk to the coaches. I think this one is forgotten for being dodgy as fuck because we got the upper hand in the end to the most feared notorious lot in the country at their ground. I can still see in my mind a vivid picture of them when we'd got together and they couldn't believe that we were going at them. l think we had no option actually, but to the point of the last conflict l think that was the roughest away l can think of. Most of the others we'd deliberately put ourselves in the situations. 10 of us getting cornered by 200 Forest in the '80's was a bit dodgy, but we survived. I reckon when you are young, like 12 to 16 and your not sure what's going on or going to happen, was often a bit scary. Like the time we got chased out of Sheff Wed's kop, I'd only be 13 or 14 and everyone saying "they had knives" made us think "that was a close un". They more than likely never, but its how the stories went at school on the Monday. Getting back to the station in dribs and drabs was always fun and a relief if it'd been on top and sharing the "near miss" tales of how we all got back was a buzz.

Remember that one well, wolves I never liked cause they were just cowards from a distance with bricks.
Stoke, that graveyard, every time, but you knew that was coming....
