That was interesting, kind of a Daily Mail angle. I know in the Soviet era, they were pretty shameless about Peter the Great mini-series, dramas, historical fiction - no different than the endless Sherlock Holmes or Jane Eyre re-makes. After the post-revolutionary fervor, Peter the Great, Ivan IV etc. were reformed through the lens of socio-economic formations and viewed as progressive for their time.
