Second Test Match

It was a bit of a nothing day yesterday, too many didn’t do enough as usual. A late rally has saved embarrassment but we need to post over 300 this morning and ideally last until after lunch. I’m not holding out much hope we always lose an early wicket.

I could not get over the commentators on Sky, going on about how well England, particularly Broard and Anderson were bowling.

Something was not quite right, can't quite put my finger on it though... Oh, I know, they barely got anyone out!

Sky commentators follow the script given to them. Their analysis is really good but they’re not allowed to tell the truth about why pay wall tv has fucked crickets popularity.

Well I had a brilliant day on Saturday despite the awful cricket on show by the team. To be in a big capacity crowd again, no masks, dancing at lunch with a thousand others, enjoying more than a few beers and catching up with some good mates was great.

As for the game, we were gutless. We didn’t win a session all match. I think it all goes back to Root’s decision to not go for a win in the first test. It’s put us in a negative frame of mind and put New Zealand on the front foot.

Today was alright but I obviously wanted to watch more cricket. They showed the football on the big screens and kept the bars open which was good but second best to what we wanted to see. It’s a real let down.

I wish them well in the final v India they definitely deserve it.

Totally agree about Root's negativity in the first test, should have at least made an attempt to go for the win at the start of the innings.

Why couldn't they have played a 20/20 this afternoon to keep the crowd happy, they've still got an extra day off tomorrow.

Glad you enjoyed your day Daggers, the crowd were brilliant all day. could have sworn i heard the "Harry McGuire" song on the Friday.

Hollies stand was mayhem by 3pm. The poor standard of England's performance seemed to calm everyone down a bit.

There was no-one asking people to put masks on so hardly anyone wore one when wandering around and no social distancing in the seating.

I assume you were in the little mosh pit in front of the Boom Box DJ at lunch?

Great day out.

Yes Club Book but on the edge not right in the middle of it. I loved it, just watching everyone having a good time brought a smile to my face after the shite we’ve all had to go through.
