Sibson Hagler

Sibbo was unlucky to come up against the best middleweight the world has ever seen. If Sibbo had been around when Eubank and Benn ruled the division then without a doubt Sibbo would've been Middleweight Champion of the World

Sugar Ray Robinson?
Jake La Motta?
I would put them at least level with Marvin Hagler.
And I would say Sugar Ray Robinson is above Hagler.

I agree, Micky. It's remarkable – by modern standards – how under-rated Hagler was when he beat Minter, but it quickly became obvious to everyone just what a machine he was. The fact that he stayed retired somehow adds to his legendary status. He wasn't a bad pundit either – I remember him working that slightly odd BBC-covered Lewis - Rahman 'upset' fight...

And you have to put Randolph Turpin up there somewhere.

I find it interesting that whilst those from the present era tend to 'get the nod' over teams from the past when people attempt the ultimately futile cross-era comparisons in football, the opposite seems to be popular when it comes to boxing. Presumably technology / nutrition / science count for less than sheer fucking grit and disregard for H&S...

Many would say that Jack Johnson was the greatest ever heavyweight even if he was fighting 110 years ago.

Who are the greatest boxers is all about opinions, and in my opinion, Hagler was the greatest middleweight.

Loved Hagers fights. When he fought Minter, he looked on a different planet, his conditioning was supreme.
Hagler had a real menace about him, like Mike Tyson in his early years.
Probably would say my favourite boxer.

There was a certain Mr Collins might have begged to differ

Gerry, I have no gripe with Collins, I simply said that if Sibbo was around at the same time as Eubank and Benn then, quite clearly imho Sibbo would have beaten the pair, easily, thus being Champion of the World. Your comment "There was a certain Mr Collins might have begged to differ" is complete rubbish because if Sibson had fought Collins then he would have done so as World Middleweight Champion. Do you agree?

To a degree I do.
However following your line of thought Collins could have fought Sibbo in an eliminator ro see who fought Eubank or Benn for the title.
What I 100% agree with is Sibbo would beat either Eubank or Benn
