Sly Stone RIP

I had a sort of obsession with them when I was younger. I think it was Pete Townshend who reckoned they were the best live act he'd seen at one point.

Sounds bad, but never really listened to them before. Had my blinkers on too tight, but I'm working on it. :censored:
 
“Stand” is a brilliant album - IMHO, much better than “Riot”.

“Fresh” is good too.

Yeah, but there's the problem, you opened with a showstopper. :)

Sometimes you see a performance where a band gets everything perfect and just blasts it, it has a crazy energy to it. I'll guess that was one of those times.

Very true. They must have been an American chat / entertainment show staple back in the late 60s / early 70s, & they seem to nail it in 4-5 minutes every freakin’ time.
