So, farewell then Le Tour...

...I have enjoyed all the decades of coverage on Channel 4 and then ITV; the intrigue, the drug controversies, the sport. Been engaging, often weirdly entertaining and even got me interested enough to attend the final stages for quite a few years around the turn of the century (though never interested enough to be anything more than an occasional cyclist to get from A to B for the first time since school - and that was pretty short lived - although riding around Paris in advance of the final stage in 2000 was pretty special). Alas, no more it seems as coverage on terrestrial TV ends today and with it I suspect any interest I might have. Been fun.

I’d recommend the Tour de France app/website. Generally an odd way to follow live sport but strangely suited to cycling where nothing much happens for hours but then a lot happens all at once. The site has animated real time updates and decent highlights quite soon after the finish as well of tons of stats etc. Also it’s free!

One of the toughest sports around.
You would like to think it is clean now. Those cyclists really put their bodies on the line.
