There is nothing wrong with possession of the football. However, the issue is whether you use that possession effectively and also whether the team is happy playing the style you are coaching into them. There is also a lot to be said for allowing the opposition to have possession and waiting for them to make mistakes....

Tuchel supposedly has the cream of English players at his disposal. They couldnt handle keep ball in their own box, Rodgers and others couldnt with the likes of Maddison, Barnes, Prime Ricardo, etc, so what chance does Russel fucking Martin have of pulling it off with our crock of shit?

It's beyond me why some managers want to pursue their own vanity projects rather than build around the players they have. It's an inbuilt excuse - "we're not winning because I haven't got the right players, my players, for my system" We inevitably see it after a managerial change that said manager wants to 'rebuild', impose his own ideas and needs 'his' players. It then becomes the club's fault for not giving the manager the toys they want. BR for example, fukker downed tools and sulked because he couldn't "refresh". I bet his garage is full of power tools he couldn't work so gave up on, and then bought another.
 
The academy kids have all be brought up to play possession football. You honestly want them to play something they aren't used to. All the age ranges of the academy are brought up this way. Look at page,alves and Braybrooke all possession based players.

That first goal againt Barnsley was awesome to be fair. This is how you want it to be done. The flip is the goal we conceded which was all kinds of shit with one bad pass being pressed and possession being given up in dangerous areas of the pitch
 
Football as a whole has got possession based. and precisely thats the problem, thats why our game has stagnated. Its become so boring with teams unable to create any
meaningful excitement that used to characterise our game

It's the way we're coached here when i was on holiday in Spain watched The Spanish kids kick about practicing all their skills rather than just hoof in it towards the goal

Saka is his own worst enemy talented but rarely uses it, at times looks lightweight looks a bit of aan enigma
