Think I’d laugh for days

Labour have spent 35 years acquiring old Liberal party voters and bleeding aspirational working class ones. Blair halted it temporarliy but he is the anti-christ for people like Momentum.
They are now the party of middle class socially liberal types.
They let the Tories fight elections on cultural issues (which are emotional) and lose every time.
Somebody needs to tell the shadow cabinet and the upper echelons of Labours machine, that they need to fight elections on economic policies, and worry about the other stuff later once they're in power.

Working class = flag shagging gammons
Can't say I really cosnider myself a flag shagging gammon.

I agree with this. Corbyn wanted the party to be more like proper Old Labour but he was stitched up by the right wing media and the mugs who fell for it. Now they've gone for a bland non-entity as leader as they think he might appeal to the middle ground a bit more but they're moving away from what the red wall voters want them to be.

So spoil the ballot sheet then, vote socialist independent, vote green, vote buckethead, just don't vote tory and particularly not this bunch.

Fucking idiots deserve everything they get if they vote for those bastards. I know it's only local elections but how they can think these lot care about them at all is beyond me.

It's this kind of condescending attitude towards honest and decent voters that is the reason Labour will lose this by-election.

That and the fact they actually think putting up an uber remainer who tried to overturn the vote of 70% of the Hartlepool
electorate was actually a good idea.

Rarely agree with you MT, but absolutely spot on this time.

Not condescending, I'm frustrated by it. They've just been announced, Tories won.
Can one of the Tory voters here explain why they think the Tories are a better option?

I'm not a Tory voter but the answer is people don't trust Labour with their tax and piss it up the wall policies. They've now come to realise that if you ain't got it you can't spend it and the only way to get it is to earn it.

And you are breathtakingly condescending

And just how much have the Tories pissed up the wall (and into their own pockets) in the last 12 months?

It’s simple, they looked at the alternative and thought there wasn’t one. In situations like that they think it’s better the devil you know.
Nice to see treacle towns turned blue too.

Don't think it will make any difference.

The London elite Tories, have convinced people, that Labour are a London elite party.
And so it goes on. Blame everyone but the ones who lost. If what you say is true explain why NIP got something like 500 votes, about 0.28% of the vote.

NIP? Sorry what's your point?
If you don’t know then why comment?
NIP Northern Independence Party. Left leaning based on the fact that the London Parties don’t care about the North. From what I’ve been following the had a lot of foot soldiers on the ground canvassing (ex labour supporters) but registered just over 500 votes.
Look at the % of none voters for your answer, nearly 60% wasn’t it. (Could be wrong, not checked it myself) but if that’s the case it shows folk ain’t bothered about corruption, sleaze and covid deaths and have not been inspired to support the party they elected in 2019.

I know what the Northern Independence Party is. Just don't see the relevance. They aren't the reason why Labour lost the seat?

Non-voters have chosen not to have a say.

Labour should have lost in 2019 in Hartlepool. Those Brexit Party voters would have voted Tory.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda,
If the none voters all voted labour they wouldn’t have lost.
If my aunty was a man she’d be my uncle.
The Labour Party didn’t lose in 2019.

Labour don’t care about local issues in the north.

Can someone explain why David Milliband was the right bloke to represent the people of SthShields whilst his brother was chosen for Doncaster Nth?
