This new variant

Rewind a few weeks and I got absolutely ridiculed for suggesting the lockdowns were all introduced to protect the beloved NHS and all who sail in her and save human life.

Now cases have risen again most on this thread is basically agreeing with me. :D

On the Nightingale hospitals, at the time they were created we had no idea how serious this would be and whether the first lockdown would be a success. Had the Government done nothing they wouldn’t have been murdered. On more week before the initial lockdown coming in and these will have been far more widely used. Of course they are a white elephant right now but if this Tier 4 shite doesn’t bring the cases down it won’t be long until they will open again. Then the problem of who will staff them comes to the fore.

We were always going to go back into lockdown till March, until it starts warming up, the days get longer and many of the most vunerable have been given the jab. I predicted this back in the autumn when we went into the November lockdown. January and February are miserable enough months so we may as well be confined to our homes. To have given some people a little bit of Christmas cheer will be a boost to people’s wellbeing and a bit of respite from all this but will clearly give an upturn of cases.

Just all pray the vaccine works .As long as the useless tossers in our government don’t screw up the logistics ( unlikely I know ) I’m mindlessly optimistic my vaccine passport might get me back in to the KP for last 2 months of the season.

Daggers it’s the people who have lost their business or job that I feel for. I’m not at all comfortable being the restricted and I’m becoming increasingly sceptical about the statistics we’re being fed but I do see the need for it. People in their 60s who have lost their jobs are now in a hopeless position I just hope they don’t get abandoned in the rush to protect the NHS. I may be out of step but I’m getting very tired of the constant stream of medics queuing up to moan in the media it would be nice to hear some positives for a change.

The vaccine does not work. The definition of a a vaccine is that it stops you getting a specific illness, Covid 19 in this case.

The vaccine currently being rolled out does not do that, you still get covid and you are still infectious to others, at best it reduces the severity of the symptoms. There are already drugs available that are as effective if not more so, at doing that.

The vaccine is a con to bring in the covid passport to restrict and control your life, that has been obvious for a while.

Spot on AFC. This concurs with my post about the BMJ article that highlighted the parameters of the MHRA regulatory checks, as revealed in the pharma companies' published vaccine protocols. Most advocates of the new vaccines are, no doubt, totally ignorant of this. I suspect many would rather ignore such an inconvenient truth because, of course, the vaccine is the long awaited panacea. To have to face the truth would be too much for some to bear.

The scary thing is that given that it is pretty piss poor as a vaccine, what is it actually for?

The only possible logical reason is that it is to establish the 'Covid Passport', why exactly remains unclear.

You may be right but I am not yet inclined to go down that route. I certainly do not feel I am yet in a position to make an informed judgment.

On a very basic level I see the vaccine rollout as politically motivated. Any elected government can, of course, make huge political capital out of being perceived to have facilitated what many voters will view as a great success (the success criterion to these voters being merely the existence of an approved vaccine).

However, Prof. Steven Evans noted that, based on other vaccine rollouts, any serious side effects will probably take two months to surface, maybe four months. In rushing this vaccine out, the powers that be are, no doubt, banking on no major side effects being identified.

So no horror stories to derail our heroes but, as you suggest, a vaccine that doesn't do what all those taking it would reasonably expect it to do.

Of course, any less obvious long term effects of a rushed out vaccine will probably never be revealed, especially if they can be explained away...

No it hasn’t

Unlike so many on here I am neither a epidemiologist nor immunologist so I wouldn’t presume to comment.
I do however dispute the assertion that it “has been obvious for some time” that the vaccine is a plot to control our lives which is actually pure bollocks .

Well you could try educating yourself by reading what appears to be relevant material from the BMJ, written by, you know, people who seem to know about these things.
