This week I have mainly been watching

Not long finished SAS Rogue Heros. Fantastic telly.

Just started The Day Of The Jackal. 3 episodes in. Great so far. Can see me and Mrs Essex binge watching the rest at the weekend.

On Netflix just finished American Primeval (superb - a combination of The Revanant meets The Wild Bunch) and The Madness (reminded me of Shaft - great use of music and every episode intriguing).

Quite old now but if you've never seen it and like Western/Civil War era stuff Hatfields and McCoys is brilliant and a true story.
Set in a similar time period Hell on Wheels was absolutely superb for the first 3 or 4 series but unfortunately then got a bit silly like they'd ran out of ideas. Happens a lot sadly.

Re-watching Boardwalk Empire.
The first couple of episodes look a bit naff years later, but once you are into it it’s worth a watch.

Possibly mentioned already but if not - now 20 years old but still superb in every way - The Wire. Everytime you watch it you see something new, much like the Sopranos
(which after 26 years is still to be bettered IMO).And full of memorable quotes.

The Wire (and the Sopranos) were brilliant, but, you needed subtitles when Snoop (the Wire) was speaking.

Been meaning to watch The Wire for years, thanks for the reminder.

Watched the The French Dispatch last night, amusing and odd so fairly normal for a Wes Anderson film.

Currently watching Ad Astra, I didn’t agree with animal experiments before.

You won't regret it, utterly brilliant.

The wife and I are half way through a 6 parter called Nightsleeper about a sleeper train journey from Glasgow to London. It’s very very good. It was on in August & September last year.

Personally thought the acting and storyline were crap, but, each to their own.

Be interesting to hear what you think when you’ve finished it. I’ll hold back till then.

Virdee, on BBC I Player. Shit from Shanghai, it even makes Bratfud look like Milan. But, some good characters, DS Hardeep Virdee is a bit like a modern day Jack Reagan. Its a bit different, I like it.

A thousand blows
Just started series 1 of Big Boys, seems to be a belly laugh each episode and stil manages to tug at the heart strings.

Spies
Slow Horses Series 2, binge watched it all in one go, even better than the first series.

Apocalypse
The Last Of Us episode 1, could be the years best tv series according to The Guardian.

Comedy
Early Doors being shown for the first time in 14 years on BBC iPlayerThanks for that. Where would I find the last of us please?

It fizzled out for me just a little at the end. I don’t do this binge watching very often but there was enough happening for me to keep my interest throughout. I thought it was good.

Just finished This City is Ours.
Personally thought it was excellent, but, if you do watch it, don’t be put off by the first couple of episodes.
Trust me, it gets better and better as it goes along.
Really hope that they do a second season.

Watched ‘Adolescence’ on Netflix - found it a tough/unsettling watch at times.
Largely tried to ignore the media noise around it and subsequent bullshit spouted by pearl clutchers.

If you found Adolescence a unsettling watch, you should have a look at the BBC iPlayer.
There is a 3 part drama from a few years ago called Three Girls.
Absolutely brilliant, and also very unsettling.

American Primeval on Netflix - no messing, raw, carnage!

Currently catching up on Ozark on Netflix. Mexican drugs cartel, money laundering, Rednecks, Hillbillies, undercover FBI agents, Teamsters, Kansas City Mob ... what could possibly go wrong.

Just been caught out by an advert for Breaking Bad series 6.
Don’t be fooled, there won’t be another series, it’s an advert relating to the fact that Netflix are going to keep showing the full series until 2027.
