Time to ditch Scmeichel

He's long since become a liability in my book. He rarely comes for crosses, his distribution is rank and he rants and raves at the ref. when a decision goes against the team. He's a bad example as a skipper, often blaming others for his mistakes. Ok, I know he can pull off the odd wonder save but the goals against tally tells some sort of story.

Now is the time to act. We have a perfectly competent interational keeper sitting on the bench waiting patiently for the chance to prove what he can do. Give him that chance now.

And Jonny can take over as Captain.

It needs to happen he makes the defence nervous he should be dropped It would be a monumental powerful decision by Brendan nobody should be un droppable i dont care who you are !

Champagne, I agree, BUT he is a very important part of the family furniture and he will take some shifting.
Exactly that. He’s an important part of the past and present and it takes someone with huge balls to drop the captain that has stood between those posts for so long and achieved so much, like it or not, the players respect and listen to him.
What your talking about is something that could possibly be done when a manager takes change to “mix things up”
It won’t be Brandan.

It's a bit of a paradox as a while ago we were all saying our players accept decisions too meekly and should have a go at the officials more like the BCC always do. But yes it does get embarrassing and loses any impact when somebody does it all the time. Club legend but nobody should be undroppable. My biggest gripe is still his distribution, why it has got progressively worse as times gone on I find baffling.

I respect everything he’s done for us, but his awful distribution and unwillingness to command his 6-yard box drive me nuts. It’s time, and Brendan needs to grow a pair of balls and drop him.

I know he can’t do it every time but when he’s able he should only throw it and not kick it. When he throws it he’s pretty good. But it’s correct. His kicking is getting worse and teams know it

Teams just press up on our back 4 they tippy tappy about a bit give it back to Kasper who returns it to them.
It's not rocket sscience Kaaper you are the weakest link goodbye.

Theres a few of the current team that needs binning t.b.h. I would also include the manager in there as well..

So if Vardy wasn't performing you would drop him? In my mind if these two players are fit they're first names on the teamsheet. Do you think Liverpool or Man City drop their keepers even if they have bad games?

Of Course you drop players who are not performing ffs if you are on medication you need to up the dose because it’s not working!

Ederson & Alisson have had bad games. Those games are like a shitty wafer thin piece of Aldi ham sandwiched inbetween countless solid games.
If you think kasper is anywhere near that level your in more than a spot of bother with the understanding of what a keepers basics are.

Kasper is greater than the sum of his parts. Yes he infuriates me sometime with his distribution and he could be better at commanding the 6 yard box at corners, but he has been a key component in the success of LCFC in the last 10 years because of his drive, strength of character and leadership. These qualities are a must in teams that win leagues and cups. In my opinion we would miss him a lot more than people think because of the influence he has on the rest of the playing staff.

His time step down will come, but that time is not now.

Correct and also buckin right

He is and I'm not
I think I remember reading that you may have had something to do with keepers in the past Gerry?
Are you still involved & at what level may I ask?
If I’m right & you think there is nothing wrong with kaspers complete lack of command in his 6 yard box, let alone penalty area in general then who the devil gave you your coaching badges?

Not done much since Covid have worked with 'keepers in the Irish League up North and just below League of Ireland level, also worked to a high level in Gaelic Football
I am 61 now so may not bother going back.
Played soccer and gaelic as a' keeper for over 30 years
And yes there is nothing wrong with it once the defenders know about it
The problem arises when defenders expect him to come for crosses and he doesn't once the defenders are aware of this in the pre match instructions then they know they have to deal with crosses
As goalies go Kasper is not the biggest so it makes sense to organise it in this way
If you look at Southamptons first goal he pulled off an outstanding save and the defenders were too slow to react to the rebound
I can see that Kasper backs his reflexes to save most headers that come at him but it is reasonable for him to expect his defenders not to allow unchallenged headers inside ten metres of the goal
Most of the goals we concede from crosses and corners are down to poor defending not poor goalkeeping
Look at the second Southampton goal the cross was arced away from the 'keeper therefore when it was impossible to get a touch on it the goalie had to stay put and the defenders never reacted to try and clear it
For me Kasper is the best shot stopper in the PL and as an all round goalkeeper there are few better possibly Ramsdale at the moment, people rave about Allison and Ederson but tell me the last really top class save they pulled off, their big saves stand out because they are so few and that is because the quality of defender in front of them is superb and certainly better than what Kasper has in front of him
I got badges on the FAI goalkeeping course because I had to but rely mostly on experience for coaching

As far as I can remember Johnny Anderson was 5-9/10 but it did'nt stop him collecting crosses and commanding his area you do not have to be 6foot+ to be a good keeper just the awareness and the agility to be able to guard your area

Can I ask how tall were the strikers he was up against a lot of strikers these days are 6'2 or more

Christ Gerry it's not about how bloody tall you are it's about agility to jump and head the ball, not all 6 footers have the ability to leap, some of our best t Centre Forwards as goalscorers could'nt head the bloody ball for toffee

Two of the best headers of the ball I've seen were Andy Lochead and Willie Gardiner when they played for us Andy was just under 6,foot and Willie was about 6foot one but both had prodigious leaps Willie was tall gangly lad and Andy was thick set More muscular but both had strong neck muscles
