Toure must be sacked now

This is now ridiculous. Watching our defence in the first 15 mins yesterday against a bang average side it was very noticeable there was no cohesion or organisation at all. Evans was going mad at Castagne. The corners are a joke as we know. 3 of our guys went for their goal. Total cock up and panic. Goal again. We could have easily been 3 down before we scored.
Kane, Abraham, Holgate. That’s just in the last few games.
Toure is stealing a living. I’m hoping that with more time next season we’ll have more organisation as with it this year we’d have easily made European football.

Its so easy to defend corners, isn't it?
Man to man marking.
Goalie is expected to come for anything within or near to 6 yard box - to preferably catch or punch away.
Put a man on each post.
Our big men mark their big men.
And leave 1 or 2 quick men on the half way line - just inside our half - then they have to keep 2 men and their goalie back.
We don't do any of that.

Touré joined Celtic in 2017 when Rodgers was already there and came with him to Leicester in early 2019. So I guess it will pretty much depend on Rodgers himself whether Touré will pay the price for this season's defensive woes.

Personally, I'm not too sure Rodgers will be that ruthless. Actually, I'm not even sure whether Touré is indeed the main culprit. Then again, bar Rodgers, who else?

You have to look at all of the league table performances, if you're going to judge Touré on results.
Which won't make happy reading for those who are critical.

We had a good end to the first season when he joined, then finished 5th (41 conceded), 5th (50 conceded) and currently 9th (57 conceded).
So you could argue the defence is getting worse each season, but the injury crisis this year had been unprecedented.

Add in the FA Cup and Community Shield wins - plus - 1x FA QF | 1x LC SF | 1x LC QF | 1x UEL SF

In such a short time, I'm pretty sure another season is in the bank.

Having said all of that, some of the mistakes in recent times would have been avoidable even with parks players available.

This... Just because toure a defender, not necessarily his role.

In fact when we scored from a corner recently Rodgers was bigging up his assistant so more likely him.

I'm sure there are plenty of managers whose specialty is set pieces. Why not just bring one in to work alongside. Cheaper that way.

I’d like to put Bobby Huth in as a suggestion.

Isn’t Wes Morgan still on the payroll?!

Do clubs really need specialist coaches for this sort of thing? Surely most of this is on page one of the schoolboys guide to kicking a ball about. Do we really need to train highly paid professional footballers to do the basics?

Defending set plays is not solely about organisation. You can try to plan every available alternative but in the end it has to be a matter of physical presence and the guts to get your head on the ball.
Evans and Wes do not have that. Harry, for all the derision did/does.
I think BR knows this and will try to sign a big stopper style bastard. It happens that two of the veteran spine of the team are nearing replacement. I suggested last week to a friend that perhaps we edge Kaspar out and he was horrified but his size does dictate policy in that area. And we see Wardy get a go...

You only have to move an opponent by a few inches to make a header go miles off course, but you need physical strength to do this. Big Wes had it, which is why he was often brought on late in games when teams get desperate and go direct.

Arguably none of our current defence has it. They can't physically move opponents. Look at Ricardo trying desperately to shift abrahams but it was like a toddler trying to move an adult.

I guess this is what Brendan is banging on about when he talks of physicality.

I watched the game again today, after attending yesterday.
I did not realise just how many chances Watford had from corners, in fact they could have scored from everyone. We are so bad at defending them it beggars belief. This has to be sorted or we will not progress. The strange thing is that all our 4 main central defenders are decent in the air against the basic long ball, but seem to have a mental block when the opposition have a corner

Totally agree, surely for the good of the dressing room and the defensive qualities he would bring, appoint Big Wes Morgan NOW! Sorry Toure, hope you get an African job you want, but it’s not worked!

Not sure Morgan is still involved with the club.
He decided it was ok for Perez to throw a party that he Maddison, Barnes and Choudhury attended and was reported on by the press.

Further to my earlier post, all the recent goals have come from corners on the right wing. Not sure what that indicates but adds further fuel to the problem

Zonal marking ! it doesn't stop anyones runs.

I don't think its as simplistic as zonal or man to man. Loads of teams adopt zonal and do it well.

Man to man also has big drawbacks as demonstrated when we tried that.

Maybe we should put all of our outfield players on the half way line and hope for an offside decision

That messed with my head for a bit.
Then I remembered you can't be offside direct from a corner.
But the opposition would have to score from the first pass....
