Wage Inflation and Brexit

Maybe working class Brexit voters had a genuine concern to what was effecting them.

And maybe the resulting emerging wage inflation is a good thing.

And maybe they shouldn’t have been dismissed as racist.

Maybe middle class privileged left leaning people who don’t have to experience these things should take note and not call them ignorant.

They love the low wages as it keeps their avocados cheap.

Anyone who disagrees is thick and ignorant. Or is it actually the other way around?

This wage inflation. Is it simply a natural (partial) correction to years of buggar all pay rises due to something called austerity invented by the same party now in government?

I don’t think so no. Austerity is a public sector concept.

A more plentiful, sometimes better skilled, labour force has eroded wages for the general population in the private sector for years due to competition. Also eroding working contracts and rights hence the gig economy. That is not the fault of anyone who moves here at all by the way.

Now that additional labour supply has dried up somewhat a more healthy equilibrium for people is forming in my view.

Freedom of movement was a noble concept. However, from a simple economic perspective it causes issues if net migration far out ways the opposite.

To effectively gaslight people for having genuine concerns fRom experiencing the above is a very blunt and poor argument for those of that opinion.

It could be a good outcome of Brexit - agreed .
We will have to get used to more expensive cost of living

Odd that. I went without a payrise for six years in companies with performance related pay citing market and general economic conditions.

Austerity ismaybe something they blamed. Or it may have been a sound business decision. Or them being greedy.

However when the tables turn and it’s an employees market wages and conditions improve.

That doesn’t happen in the public sector as much.

Not had a pay rise for 4 years, Mrs B nothing for about 8 years.
Management couldn't give a fuck, if you didn't like it, fuck off.
Now it's turning, they are having to listen for the first time in a long while.
As far as I am concerned it went against workers here in the early 2000's when loads of Polish came over.
It was great for employers but not employees.

Let’s hope the workers don’t get “too powerful” otherwise the MSM will tell them they’re “too powerful” and they will shoot themselves in the foot again.
