West Runton Pavillion

Anybody else remember this place? I went there once in the seventies while camping up the road.

Having nothing better to do this lunchtime, I googled it. I couldn't believe the list of bands who played there - if true, it includes The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, The Jam, Dire Straits, Duran Duran and loads more. Unbelievable for a venue which from memory was little bigger than a village hall.

Sadly demolished in 1986, but marked by a blue plaque at the Village Inn next door

Yep, I went once, saw Motorhead and Tank. One of my mates was a roadie

Similarly the Gliderdrome in sleepy Boston hosted The Who, ELP, Kinks, Animals, The Nice, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Yes, T Rex, ELO, Curved Air, Traffic, Free, Hendrix and the list goes on.
Closed in 1973

anyone go?

I went to East Runton as me Mam was staying there after I’d been on a lads holiday to Yarmouth when I was 17ish for a free week extra holiday. Boring as arse holes, went to the Pravilion as there was nothing else going on, saw the Real Thing there and I’m sure I saw Slade aswell, neither my thing but that area is strictly for wheel chair racing. Ended up going to Yarmouth most nights. Actually went to Cromer a couple of weeks ago for a few days still fuck all to do !

Hey what's not to like in Cromer erm... there's Crabbing....picking up Dog Shit...slagging off Cockernees. It's The Gem of The East don't you know 🦀
