Who’s the best writer you’ve read.

I’ll go first, Nelson Algren for me. First book I read, “Somebody in boots” stayed with me for a good while. “The man with the golden arm” and “Walk on the wild side” (yes Lou Reed was a big fan) two other great novels. Hard going at times but they leave a lasting impression.
