Each year Bayern go down to the Oktoberfest all dressed in their Leiderhosen.
Paulaner is one of Munich’s big 6 breweries and presumably a sponsor of Bayern.
The others are Hofbrau, Spaten, Lowenbrau, Hacker Pfschorr and my favourite Augustiner.
Oktoberfest was born as a celebration of these 6 breweries and their beers, and remains so today with each having a vast marquee set up in the same park each year. Nowadays there are loads of smaller tents by other smaller breweries a massive funfair for the 3 weeks of the beer festival.
Tickets to get into a beer hall are expensive and not so easy to get hold of (especially for evenings and at weekends) as is the beer, but it really is a fantastic occasion if you get a chance to go. You don’t necessarily need a ticket to get in but most of the tables are reserved to ticket holders especially as I say in the evenings and at weekends.
