My mrs had both done within 10 days of each other just before lockdown, walks great now and out of pain. Make sure you do the exercises and you will be fine.
St Michaels in Hayle, same surgeons as The Duchy, had a robot do all the measurements & alignment's and Mr Walker did the op, both full knee replacements 5 months apart, I continued doing all the exercises & stretches after the first op in February…Did you have it done at the Duchy?
I had a full left knee replacement on Feb 21st this year and was back golfing after 6 weeks and working (decorator) it’s 5 months near enough to the day with this right knee July 22nd, this operation was done with the help of ROSA a robot that does all the measurements and alignments while the surgeon does the gory bits, if this knee is as successful (I’m sure it will be) they have asked me to do a piece in the surgeons magazine and the physio magazine, I used a buggy for the last 2 years for golf and was back walking (until the right knee deteriorated) and lost 2 shots off my handicap, bloody magicians these surgeons oh and the feckin robot as well…My wife had hers done in March, she followed all the advice and did her rehab religiously. She is now back playing golf 3 times a week and almost back to normal, ie pain free etc.
Good luck and be sure to do all the rehab as directed !

Wow! I’m 12 weeks post knee replacement and still struggling lots of pain and still very swollen, don’t think the over the phone physio is helping - all I get is do the exercises in the book, I have but it doesn’t seem to be improving then im told maybe you’re doing too much, rest it more,I had a full left knee replacement on Feb 21st this year and was back golfing after 6 weeks and working (decorator) it’s 5 months near enough to the day with this right knee July 22nd, this operation was done with the help of ROSA a robot that does all the measurements and alignments while the surgeon does the gory bits, if this knee is as successful (I’m sure it will be) they have asked me to do a piece in the surgeons magazine and the physio magazine, I used a buggy for the last 2 years for golf and was back walking (until the right knee deteriorated) and lost 2 shots off my handicap, bloody magicians these surgeons oh and the feckin robot as well…
My new Left knee is brilliant now, the new right knee is only 4 days old and still settling in I reckon, not much bruising showing yet but taking the Arnica pillules to bring them out, going for a walk round my village shortly, it’s tough to get a good nights sleep as I just can’t get the right knee comfy, hopefully only another week of pain…Wow! Just checked my diary and it was about a week before I went out for a good walk, also couldn’t do most of my exercises out of the booklet they gave me for over a week and 2 weeks before I could lift my operated knee up independently so perhaps I’m expecting too much after 4/5 days, will see the physio at Newquay hospital next week and he certainly helped last time, sent me an email of all my exercises..Fingers crossed for you ive forgotten what a good nights sleep is like
Was only a couple of days before I went out for a walk I still do all the exercises in the book but see little improvement everyday on the exercise bike I struggle to get the pedals over because of the stiffness and pain I get it to crank over gritting my teeth cycle for 15/30 mins next day it’s just as stiff and hard to get the pedals turningJust checked my diary and it was about a week before I went out for a good walk, also couldn’t do most of my exercises out of the booklet they gave me for over a week and 2 weeks before I could lift my operated knee up independently so perhaps I’m expecting too much after 4/5 days, will see the physio at Newquay hospital next week and he certainly helped last time, sent me an email of all my exercises..
Taking 4x2 Zapain tablets & 3 400mg Ibuprofen tablets a day so they help, golfing in just over 5 weeks again…
Regular bags of ice/frozen peas help loads, my surgeon did say no 2 operations are the same and as this was a different procedure with a robot doing all the cutting, measuring & alignments the outcome should be better but not necessarily quicker even though the operation took longer, will let you know how it goes, I can send you the emails that the physio sent me if you want? Was only a couple of days before I went out for a walk I still do all the exercises in the book but see little improvement everyday on the exercise bike I struggle to get the pedals over because of the stiffness and pain I get it to crank over gritting my teeth cycle for 15/30 mins next day it’s just as stiff and hard to get the pedals turning

Hi Phil, for some reason they didn’t give me physio this time and said it was a different operation, i pestered them on the phone & email and finally got a physio appointment tomorrow, I keep a diary and I’m about a 4/5 days behind on recovery compared to the first op, still can’t bend the new knee much so that’ has a knock on effect for my walking & exercising.. Couldn’t find the original email with the exercises but hopefully I will get part 1 from the physio tomorrow and forward it on to you matey…Yes that would be a great help at least I'd know I was doing the right things my email is Phil.copson@live.co.uk
