The Old horse was my old dads localI liked tge Queen Vic on Southampton Street when John Griffin had it
The Old Horse by Vicky Park was my local.
The Empire on Tudor Road was decent
Have you tried the Queen Of Bradgate? As a real ale man the Salmon is the best of a very bad bunch. Loughborough is loads better.
I’d forgotten about that one. Can’t remember the name either.I have forgotten the name of this pub. it was small and on Granby street next to the chip shop. you could wait there and help the lost away fans find a takeaway. And then help them find their way back to the train station
What era did your dad drink thereThe Old horse was my old dads local
he is buried at Welford Road ..when we go to his grave we have a drink and a nosebag in there!
Another vote for the Huntsman when Butch (aforementioned doorman of the Wellington) took it on from Mr Pole, good timesMy local in the 80s was the Huntsman. A great pub in it's day.
definitelySpencers
1960s my dad passed away 1968What era did your dad drink there
No chance for quality of beer, I live in hope things improve as it’s a proper pub which I likeKings
lots of excellent mentions.. sometimes forget how good we have it here
Yes thanks. It's OK. Beer usually in reasonable condition.Have you tried the Queen Of Bradgate?
Absolutely, vastly inferior to both Derby and Nottingham sadly. Still at least our football team is vastly superior to theirs. Salmon is quite handy if you come into St Margaret's on the bus!Leicester let’s face it is very poor for a big City for beer quality and choice.
The salmon is good but to far from the ground, has to be the Globe and the blue boar which has good choices but is to small
Criterion shut for refurbishment just before the pandemic. They were planning to re-open with more focus on the pizzas (which were fantastic) but the plan was to keep the handpumps and have a reduced range of cask beers. No idea what the plan is now.Past: Criterion (is it still there?), The Pub, Swan & Rushes
Present: Kings Head, Black Horse
Sad but trueYou need to wash your hands after typing that.
They were nowt special but had some good characters drinking thereOnly went in the Friar Tuck once. There was an Elvis impersonator in there. That's all I remember.
The Angel was a tiny place. Only went in there once too. Wasn't very eventful.
Yes it certainly was. Just look at the area now. Any other City would have name a feature of that bridge and surrounds...Forgot about the Tap. Was a great pub. Criminal that is was knocked down.
