Last night, Andy Brehme passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. 63 years of age.

Scored the winning penalty for Germany in 1990. Great left and right foot and probably one of the best German leftbacks ever. The deflected ball from his freekick beat Peter Shilton in the semifinal against England.

Absolute football legend and gone far, far too soon!
 
Very sad. He was a vital part of the ‘German’ Inter team of the late 80’s.
That goal vs England broke my heart that night. I first saw Shilton play for Leicester when he was just 15. It was just not to be. RIP Andreas

The 1990 final was a really poor match - that the Germans managed to win a penalty so late & Brehme put it away, was a relief, as you could just see it disintegrating further had it gone into extra time.

RIP...
