Brighton sign pedro

I’m sure an effective recruitment policy will be put in place as and when a future becomes clear for the club.
At the moment nobody knows the extent of damage by the sustained attack of the imposter and his agents.
- If successful, ‘operation destroy’ may have wiped the club out completely.

- Those that devised the LCFC downfall will I’m sure consider it a partial success if the result is relegation.

- Thirdly, and hopefully the eventual outcome, is that the club escape with its life, survive relegation, and ensure there are no remnants of the vile scum that had infested the place.

LCFC had, in the not too distant past, been the envy of many top flight clubs with their transfer activities, there’s no reason they can’t return to something similar with the right people in place.

Well, I was wrong a few weeks ago!
Be interesting to see if he turns out to be their Slimani, or a success.
Bye Bye Ferguson then, I wonder?

Is there a chance relegation will reduce
Bodgers pay off?

A collective group a players, both skilled and increasing in value in an equilibrium fashion.
And Pedro may end up being part of a group that continues to be both skilled & increasing in value (and it wouldn't be a complete surprise if that was the case) but my point is that effectiveness can only be judged on results. They have been very effective but you cannot know if Pedro represents a continuation of that however well regarded he is currently.. I know another club that was being wanked over by pundits and some opposition fans in much the same way for, on the face it of it, doing much the same.

They have been very effective that exactly my point. Not sure what point you started with or ended up making. The facts are Brighton have recruited well and sold on well. In the meanwhile we have let contracts run down and missed signing players by 14 seconds. it’s a mess and need a addressing and is there for everyone to see.

Not disagreeing with any of that, my point was that taking the original post and its title seemed to indicate that you believe the signing of Pedro to be a continuation of that effectiveness but that you cannot know that.

Ah ok. In that case, sorry it is a poor sign post as it seems largely irrelevant at this point to the discussion.

So, for the discussion, yes Brighton appear to have been very effective in the transfer market over recent seasons (managing to get any money for Maupay was some achievement in itself!) & are reaping the rewards with performances. As a consequence they are in a position that they have earned far more scope in the market. How they use that & how performances will develop will be interesting as they find the fees being asked increasing.

If you discount the fucking disaster of the summer of 2016 & the cash constraints of this season our policy for incoming players has appeared to largely be younger players who over the course of a an initial season step up & become regular PL material (not wholly unsuccessfully) or else less well regarded, but solid, who cost a bit less than real top dollar players. Whilst the "who" is not particularly impressive, the "how much" (in transfer fees & more so in salaries) has in my view been the bigger policy failure as that is the one that (along with the vendor's representative announcing that all his goods are shit in January 2022) has truly screwed us & caused the lack of a significant transfer fee received last season to be akin to the good ship LCFC hitting the iceberg.

As with Everton, we have caused ourselves to be backed into scrabbling around for anything. If you want to say the BHA model is the model to follow then it has to be the BHA model a few years ago rather than now because we are not in the same market (a damning indictment in itself) & regardless of where we finish this season may not be for 2 years minimum.

Not specifically related to the sign post or the discussion, what will be interesting for BHA will be how they navigate the next couple of seasons. Bloom seems pretty switched on and it is hard to see them letting it all go to shit in the sort of timeframe we have seen but I also don't think they will be consistently challenging for Europe.
