Cab Ride - Knighton Jnt to Bardon Hill

Sorry Armada, it's a free country no-one is forcing you to watch it. It is the Ivanhoe line, named after one of our most celebrated players. Micky does so much for this board he is fully entitled to a frolic of his own every so often. And not that there is much fun on the football side at the moment.

Thanks Micky, made my day, loved it.

just looking at Freemans Common on a map and to re-instate the Leicester to Burton passenger line would only need to knock down one factory. So I've no idea why they were talking about a terminus near the KP instead.

Sorry Micky bit ignorant of this.Trying to follow it looking at houses etc but what route and landmarks does it actually pass?

Elmet, I wasn’t trying to be ungrateful, and yes I agree Micky does a hell of a lot for this board.
He is more than entitled to do whatever he wishes on this board, and I also agree that there isn’t much fun on here at the moment.
My point being that it would perhaps be more suited to be on one of the other forums to be found on this nice and diverse site.

No problem Armada. But if anyone has earned the right to decide which of the forums an item should be posted then it is Micky. And as it does pass the KP and could serve the ground cf Bolton and Brighton.....

4.02... Over Narborough Rd, near the old Huntsman. (Lynn's cafe down to the left).
5.38... Under Hinckley Rd, nr Western Park.

By all accounts work could start as early as 2024 for completion by 2027 from Burton to Leicester via Swad, Ashby, Coalville and a few other minor hamlets (dons tin hat!)

If the driver stops just after the Aylestone Road bridge, opens his right cab door he can just about piss in the King Power Stadium carpark without getting out his cab. Close enough for me topic wise.

Me and the late great Freery used to have a 'Cab Ride' night when the missus had fooked off out. Midland Counties Books in Hinckley used to rent them out, one of the most grueling episodes is Kings Cross to York hauled by a Class 47. It lasted about four and a half hours, lots of cans of Stella and class B drugs were partaken.

It's the freight only line from Leicester to Burton. Runs through Braunstone, Golf Course Lane etc. Quite near to the bridge at Braunstone X Roads a stone train derailed and ripped up about a mile of track, can't remember the date, Hugh Janus would know. We went 'on the nick' one night in 1981 at Bagworth Junction, we wanted to lift an out-of-use ground signal, it was a decent walk and we were just chopsing away when Freery heard the sleepers creek and about 50 yards behind us was a Class 56 Light Engine with its power shut off, just coasting, we were very lucky, we fucked off back, we never got that signal.
