Apparently tabled a record £115m bid for Argentina and Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez who Benfica signed last summer for just £10m.

I just cannot fathom how they can possibly do this all within the FFP rules.

I know they had a transfer embargo for a year or so but bloody hell, this is crazy.

Benfica are considering the bid which is above the £105m release clause in his contract. What is there to consider?
 
It’s almost as though they’re laundering money. On top of that what is their wage bill like. I really hope they fail to get a European place. That’ll piss them off, both players and fans.
 
They’re signing players on very long contracts so the cost can be amortised over a long period of time. It’s allowed under current rules, although UEFA is looking at it.
 
Now seems that sputz might be signing some fella for 40m that Lisbon bought from Man City a year ago for 7m. Good to see it's not just us that the portuguese clubs see coming a mile off.

They’ve been doing that for a while with baseball players over here. Bryce Harper, the Phillies outfielder, signed a $300m+ 10 year contract a couple of years ago that will take him well past his useful playing days.
 
Quite funny. ( not for the player). So Zihech was in Paris waiting to sign on loan to PSG. Apparently a cock up with the registration that wasn’t signed by one party by 2300. They appealed but the French FA said no. So he’s back at Chelsea. No way he’ll be in the 25 man squad. What a mess.
 
Chelsea can’t keep all these players happy. Most can’t get into their European squad so will have to be part of their Prem squad meaning others will miss out.

Should we go in for Kante?

Though a lot of them can presumably be part of the Prem Squad (for this season at least) without players missing out as they will qualify as U21 players (even that Fernandez qualifies as U21 by 17 days, Mudryk by 5 days). They only had 23 of the 25 anyway and that was before Jorginho left. Keeping them all happy will be another thing though a decent salary and the distractions of that there London will presumably help!
