Dame Edna’s gone

Savagely funny satirical genius. Exactly as it should be. Brilliantly constructed characterisations that stayed just on the right side of not being offensive. Much as we have discussed with Blazing Saddles over the last couple of days.
Farewell and god bless Barry Humphries, Dame Edna and Sir Les Patterson the world has suddenly become a much poorer place.

Caroline Aherne as Mrs Merton to Debbie McGee “So,what first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?”.
And to Bernard Manning “Who do you vote for now Hitler’s dead?”.

And to George Best "if you hadn't been running around so much do you think you'd been less thirsty"

That Mrs Merton interview with Manning was one of the best.
He started off with the upper hand and the audience were lapping it up.
The tide turned when he admitted to being racist, though there was one clap when he said there was nobody at Dunkirk with dark skin.
The Aherne Hitler quip was good, but she couldn't really handle Manning in most of the interview.
