Good win, awful opposition

There are very few leagues in the world where a centre back pairing of Souttar and Vestegaard would walk through ninety minutes and Choudhury would get away playing left back.

Enzo is clearly the man, by the end of the season he’ll be nudging towards Ranieri and O’Neill in the manager stakes.

(This division is absolutely shite though because there is no other universe in which Choudhury gets a game at left back)

Yes but no but isn’t it good man management to ease Souttar back against his former team and play Choudrey in a position he doesn’t play in a game like that. That squad is going to be tested this season and a bit of versatility will not go amiss

The longer this season goes on, it's going to be more and more about expectation management:

- keeping players focussed, refraining from complacency, and interested (through rotation etc.)
- keeping supporters focussed
- keeping the club focussed

Eventually, there will be a setback or two.

We are less than a quarter into the season, and it almost looks like an inevitability that we're pi$$ing the league. It's kind of amazing (and nice!) that this seems to be my biggest worry at the moment!

Agreed. The media seem to be ignoring us at present as already promoted. Ipswich are their love focus at present. Beating Ipswich convincingly will hopefully put an end to that.

Great read but this just made me spit my coffee out. Literally

‘Vestergaard did his customary Beckenbauer impression’

He might have improved immensely but the Kaiser!

I know the writer is probably taking the pîss but it did make me laugh

Again, thought Vesta had a very good game. Passing was excellent and worked well with Souttar.

Even if probably written tongue-in-cheek, this is the sort of complacency I don't like to see.

It's going to be a long season, and we're less than a quarter into it. It's by no means a foregone conclusion that we're walking this league at a canter even if a certain inevitability seems to have established itself already.
