Guardiola

He is extremely good though.
It’s clear as anything that he’s obsessed with football & he gets everyone of his players to work themselves to the bone for him.
Make no mistake, when he leaves Man City despite obviously still having mega bucks they will not be as dominant as they are under someone else as under him.

Whoever said Bodgers was an elite coach? The scousers didn't and were glad to get shut of him and his over white teeth. Just the know nothing TV pundits who for some reason were in his thrall and believed his BS.

Well himself thought he was elite no other fucker did though

TalkSport, Match of the Day and the gibbering gibbons they have on Sky's football coverage.

No doubt Guardiola is an excellent coach. There must be reasons why so many players want to play for him, and I don't think it's just the money that Man City is paying. And he's a regular title winner who is definitely capable of improving players.

That said, I'm still not convinced he'd make it at a lower league side. He's very demanding in terms of the players his team needs to have and buy, and he was lucky enough to never have had the discomfort of deciding between, say, Junior Lewis and Harry Worley in midfield for the next game.

He's also spent gargantuan amounts of money at Man City and still hasn't won the Champions League with them. In fact, he hasn't won it since 2011 with Barcelona. Maybe this year?

So, definitely one of the top ten coaches in the world, probably even top five. But THE best? Perhaps not! But then again, even the best coaches have weaknesses.

Who is in the same league?
IMHO Klopp, Tuchel, Ancelotti, Mourinho... then the air gets thin...

Rodgers is not elite nowhere
Peps on for the treble his ex assistant is the nearest challenger for the prem his ex captain has just completely blown away the championship but people keep saying it's all about the money it all must be a coincidence🙄
Rodgers is not in the elite class nowhere close he is one dimensionall lost when some team quickly fathoms his system there is no plan B or a likely hood of one, lost In his own world, and cannot believe players are un happy with his system of play and worst of all is blind when things go tits up

A solutely sublime last night with players
Acknowledging a system of play that gives freedom to express there skills plus there
Fitness levels to play at speed which Real couldn't live with.

And our prat of a manager tries a similar
System knowing his players have not got the skill or effort to produce that play

They were absolutely superb to watch last night. I’ve been watching them since 1997 when I moved to Manchester and until this season I thought we were on a similar ( scaled down ) trajectory
They were a different class, made Real look ordinary

Not sure this "could he do it in the lower leagues" is necessarily a measure of a good manager. He likes to play a certain way, the players need to be good enough to do it. It's no good if every 2nd touch is a tackle.

I'm not saying he's not a good manager, far from it. Top five definitely!

I do like managers though who've done it all: manage a small club first, improve it, then move on to better clubs, improve them, then go to the top clubs. Klopp and Tuchel both fit that bill, Mourinho also to some extent.

Perhaps Guardiola could do it as well. It's evident that he can motivate and push on players to better themselves which already means a lot. In terms of playing style / system he'd have to adapt considerably though.

Where I admire him is his ability to know when to move on a player.

Shipping out zinchenko and jesus last summer looked risky.
Less so sterling, but still a big source of goals being taken out of the squad.
Moving on cancelo (last year's player of the year) in January also looked weird.

Obviously it helps when you have a squad like theirs, but it keeps players on their toes and working hard, no complacency in that squad.
