Just unlucky

Pre game I genuinely thought we'd get beaten but lets be honest we were very, very, unlucky not to have won that game by at least two clear goals and but for a poor refereeing decision (still better than with VAR) , some abject finishing and two horrendous deflections we would have. Hard to comprehend how Winks, Perreira and to a lesser extent KDH can play like that and end up on the losing side.
Strangely I feel more confident we can get over the line now than I did this morning because we can play some wonderful football that most if not all of the rest can only dream about.

And still lose

Leeds were garbage, absolutely woeful & they still beat us.
We have a frighteningly weak mentality that shows no signs of improvement.

Sadly that sounds a bit like Maddison’s comment last season ‘We’ll be fine’.

I agree that many of our players were outstanding but two or three were poor - when it’s eight against eleven it’s only going to go one way.

One of the joys of watching football compared with other sport's is that you don't always get what you deserve and last night was a prime example
Our midfield, a clear second best in the reverse fixture, swarmed all over Leeds and for the first half of the second half we cut through them at will and most of Elland Road was next to silent.
I wouldnt argue that we've lacked steel in some other games this season but last night and to a lesser extent against Boro it was more down to bad luck.

So that’s two games in a row we were unlucky and could have and should have won.

Look at the season so far and however good it’s been our defence still lacks the mental strength needed to close out a game.

And that’s a worry.

12 points has become 6 points in a week.

I'd love to see a replay of the minute before their second. In my memory our back line just lost all the calm of the preceding 80mins. I can recall faes trying to boot the ball upfield, but only succeeding in hitting a group of players 10yards in front of him. Then fatawu trying to dribble away. Probably other chances to clear that I can't remember.

If they'd just stuck to doing what they'd done for the rest of the match, calmly picking a simple pass, we'd have prob seen the game out.

In summary: more Enzo ball, not less, next time please.
