Maddison

100%
Forget what some say on here about only 1 year left on contract etc.
If he’d been leaving a chelsea/ Man Utd etc to join spurs, he’d have gone for more.

We got mugged because of relegation
But would he have fitted into enzoball.
Ballplayers are selfish footballers who demand the ball to showcase their obvious talent

Nobody offered more than Spurs, we got what we could.
He’s proving now what he has always been capable of. He was allowed to play to the gallery by TCR, Postecoglou won’t stand for that.

Amazing that Mount went for £60m+ because he was going from one BCC to another. Like Kanté I was amazed nobody else came in for Maddison. But they’ve got a bargain no matter what the scenario was, especially considering Johnson after just one good season ( not fantastic) went for £47m

Swaggering around the pitch patting the badge on his chest ( to be fair playing very well) but went missing last season when we needed him!
The " keep doing what we are doing " comments and the pen against Everton come to mind.
They got him on the cheap but we weren't in a position to turn it down

He's doing well, isn't he?

That's what confidence, a good manager and a supporting environment can do I suppose. We definitely didn't have enough of that last season, that's for sure.

Too often people think professional players should be good enough, beyond all or at least most of those factors, and they should perform no matter what. In fact, they're not, and when the environment isn't right, most players underperform.

We'll see how it goes for those who left. Tielemans seems to (edit. ) continue his bad form and underperformance from when he was at Leicester, Barnes was on the up but is now (sadly) injured, and Maddison seems to be in excellent form!

Did we sell Maddison too cheap? 100% by the looks of it but we didn't have much choice I suppose, and there weren't enough takers for a player from a badly underperforming side.

There was an article in the Telegraph this morning telling us the new manager had transformed the team, they were no longer Spursy, were going to win the league...etc (yawn).
On the basis of a home win v Fulham, ffs.
I suppose this is confirmation of the sort of London centric reporting we used to laugh at in 2016.
I shall believe it when they score a convincing win against a decent team in February on a sodden pitch in a freezing gale. And after Maddison goes missing (again).

I don’t understand some of the negative comments on him he was fcuked by Blendon the Burk. Bottom line we had 5 reasonably good years out of him returned a tidy profit on him.
Now let’s not talk about Tielemans he’s a proper cnut. Passed the ball 3 yards for an assist on Sunday look-on his face was like he had just scored a worldy….

It would be funny (in a gritted teeth kind of way) if Spurs won something and it turns out that Harry Kane was the one thing holding them back.
Just that Man City look more vulnerable this year and Arsenal and Livarpool are very inconsistent. Hopefully they will implode as usual once the prospect of a trophy emerges.
