Message from Top...

Pointless looking in the rear view mirror. Yesterdays profits don't deliver tomorrow's success.
No mention of countless mistakes, just doesn't like a bit of criticism that goes with the territory.
Sorry seems to be the hardest word.

Top, Rudkin, whelan, Rodgers all responsible for this mess. Those on charge cannot run a club it’s mistake after mistake!!! Fucking Disgusting

Who knows exactly what the roles entailed so how can apportion the blame? If Whelan was responsible for the amount we stole of Man U and Chelsea, and the way the payments were made, for Maguire and Fofana then I reckon she’s done a decent job.
Agree, but the 2 major factors for me are:

1. Superstar wages for average players, which stopped us selling them and restricted us buying due to FFP - RUDKIN

2. The faith given to Rodgers which ultimately gave anyone coming in no chance to turn it around - RUDKIN

Exactly. We supporters have no way of knowing what’s happening behind those closed doors. if, as is perfectly possible, it transpires that Rudkin was simply acting with the best of intentions, and was guilty only of an excess of fellow feeling for a manager whose plight anyone could sympathise with, I, for one, will stop embarrassing myself by denigrating him.

I was giving a bit of support to Whelan who, for the what I can glean, may have done a decent job. I hadn’t noticed that I’d supported Rudkin in anyway.

I am reading a message from somebody who I genuinely believe is a very decent person and who has the best interests of the club and the local community at heart but who sadly lacks - so far - the leadership skills to install a culture of accountability and a streak of ruthlessness to enforce it.

Somebody has to be responsible for the players' contracts situation we are in. Too many players out of contract or in the last year. I'd say that's the DoF's job, and that is one of the main contributing factors to our plight.

Players who don't want to play for the club need to be sold, at a cut-price if necessary.
A manager who signals he does not want to be here needs to leave.
A DoF who neglects his job of sorting out contracts and squad planning needs to be accountable for it!

Edit: it sometimes happens that the offspring of somebody who built up an empire or a large enterprise lacks the same required toughness. Top needs to learn. I hope he does.

Does anyone want any of the seven about to leave to actually stay?
The club have clearly tried to extend the contracts of Tielemans and Maddison, they and Soyuncu are determined to leave.
No fan of Rudkin but in this instance I’m not sure what else he could do.
He certainly couldn’t have planned for 15 players being out of contract over the next two summers, we don’t have the places in the squad or the money to have a bigger squad.
Should have let the likes of Praet and Perez leave earlier for smaller feed but then there’s a few who like Praet and would have called the clubs out for letting a player go on the cheap.
Soyuncu and Tielemans were always going to run down their contracts and you can’t force a player to leave, see Vestergard.

I agree but this though is not so simple as apart from needing a buyer interested and a player interested in playing for the potential buyer, if cut price means less than the book value, if you're on an FFP knife-edge then that's another loss to swallow (though for those with one year left a relatively small one)... and that's without considering the cost of any replacement.

If wasn't so cynical I'd call that a goodbye letter.

Give it a few weeks and we will get the PS.........

Perhaps you don't need to do this very often. You ship one player out (even one with a "big" name), and it sends a message to the rest of the squad that it won't be tolerated holding the club to ransom. We've allowed too many people holding the club to ransom, not only players, but let's face it the season could hardly have turned out any worse without Tielemans, for example.

And given his situation, Soyuncu effectively giving it the finger and waiting it out is not something I can really criticise him for. Tielemans though could have signed. If he had as much faith in his own ability as he should have it would have not prevented him moving anyway and at a profit to the club (vs Book value if not absolute value). So, yes, it might well have made sense for him to run it down but it did us no favours and leaves him open to questions of his own commitment this season whether justified or not.

Sure but my point is that it is easier said than done and there are consequences.

And to be clear, yes, I am fucking pissed off about the Tielemans situation and his not signing. Maybe though there was a lack of any real interest in him in the last 4 transfer windows that drove him.

The problem is, that if one of the so called big boys of the PL come calling, in this day and age it’s very difficult to stop a player going, in fact I’d say impossible. What you must do is ensure you get top dollar for your asset. I’d say apart from Kanté ( who we know had a sell out clause) the rest have gone for a fair price and in the case of Maguire and it seems Fofana, an over inflated price. Brighton have found this out recently losing Cucarella, Bissouma and Trossard. They’ll now lose McAlister and Caicedo even though they’ve made the EL. West Ham and Southampton both in the past have produced real gems who they’ve had to sell. It’s about recycling but to produce it at a high level is very difficult.
The problem with being relegated is the vultures will circle and offer silly money which in a lot of cases we’ll have to take. I fully expect Maddison to fetch south of £50m unless there’s a fight for him, Barnes to leave for no more than £25m and Nacho for around £15m. Probably JJ for the same. Its what sadly happens. These are all relatively young guys but with a lot of PL experience

You're right, and I admit my above comments are written with the blessings of hindsight.

For example, had we sold Tielemans last summer at a cut-price (to whoever - there didn't seem to be any strong interest as we all know) it would have perhaps caused even more upset within the club given the transfer money embargo that was put in place. And issues with FFP rules, as you have stated.

Very well written. At least the PR people are doing their job.
“from people I have met anonymously in public,”
Trying to get my head around how you can anonymously meet someone in public. But hey ho. Others yes, but I find it hard to attach blame to Top. He took over in terrible circumstances and the very last thing he would have wanted to as to see us relegated. He has been badly let down by his advisors(s) who are woefully out of their depth.

Tielemans would probably have been the one player we have signed for a substantial fee who if we could have sold at a relatively cut-price last summer we would still have realised a profit on his book value which was probably around £10m (based on an original fee of £40m for a 4 year contract). So even a fee that was half of what we paid (and not taking into account any sell on fee) would have generated a profit that could, from an FFP perspective, have generated some leeway for a purchase or two. But even if the interest was there (which seems doubtful) I think that irrespective the club would have taken the view that his staying was vital to our chances & that they might still be able to get him to extend his contract. Alas wrong on both counts.

It’s all about the manager. Kompany came from Anderlecht having done very little. Brought in £30m worth of players mainly from Belgium and loads left on frees and they recouped £70+m on transfers. They’ve been brilliant. It shows it can be done.

Im going to go out a limb and say he sees very little anti feeling to him. Bloke lives the life of luxury. He aint gunna meet any Leicester fans down the polo club giving him what for.
Classic diversionary tactic piece from our clubs comms director.
So true . The club will filter any emails or messages he gets and if any has dogs abuse then they’ll be removed . I doubt Top has ever read anything other than a sanitised email from a BAM and lives in a world devoid of reality .
I’m afraid he failed to step up this season and avoided the big decisions needed. Next season we’ll have to wait and see !
